Are you a good witch, or a bad witch? - Glinda
Anyone that fancies witches or movies like The Craft, should really enjoy this new Kickstarter- Coven by 8th Summit.
Coven is a board game for up to 5 players in which players are "goddesses" (let's call a spade a spade- witches) that are competing for their spot as the most powerful. The goddesses, portrayed as beautiful miniatures, represent the different elements and are dealt an alignment at the start of the game with either good or evil. These alignments are kept secret and each player earns favor by aligning themselves with the more powerful, non-player goddesses represented on a separate alignment board. The players gain essence along their paths in the game and it's through that essence that they pay tribute to non-player goddesses to gain their favor. These non-player goddesses also have secret alignments that are not made known until the end of a game, so a player's best laid plan could be foiled in the end if the goddess they have followed through the game end up with their secret alignment different than their own. As in real life, choices can be made along the way. If a goddess starts down a path and thinks differently on it as a game progresses, she can use the reversal Ankh to change her alignment.
In addition to the overall theme of deception, a really cool part about this game is the mechanism of the board. The board itself has moving parts. Players move along the path on the outer ring of the board and can move across the board on the connecting lines when they line up with corresponding spaces on the board. Those alignments can change at any time when a trigger causes the center panel on the board to rotate.
Will you be trying your hand at witchcraft in this game and join the Coven?
