October 12, 2022 by brennon
Corvus Belli's Hoopoe has dived into another Whispers Of Lindwurm video to discuss the expansion that is coming to Warcrow Adventures during the Kickstarter on 18th October. Yes, more is coming soon!
Deathclaws Of The Dream Expansion // Warcrow Adventures

The new expansion comes with a whole host of new stuff for you to sink your teeth into. You'll get fifteen new preassembled miniatures with two new characters and thirteen new enemies. There is also an expansion to the campaign with five new quests to undertake. A load of new narrative encounters, tokens, cards and all that gubbins are also included.
When it comes to characters, you've got two new options and they come with pets!
Iriavik // Warcrow Adventures
Coal // Warcrow Adventures
Iriavik is joined by her faithful hound, Coal. She looks awesome too and I am getting some Aloy vibes from her from Horizon Zero Dawn. It might be the red hair that does it! If you prefer tinkering then you've also got
Trabor Slepmond // Warcrow Adventures
Trabor's Trinkets // Warcrow Adventures
He is going to be rolling some excellent-looking contraptions into the fighting. Wheels armed with guns?! What's not to like? I do really like that the characters from Warcrow are familiar to some degree to the classic genre versions of them but with a fun Corvus Belli twist.
Enemy-wise, your heroes are going to be going up against the Redcaps and their Gobblers.
Gobblers // Warcrow Adventures
There are a few varieties of them for you to clash with but I'll let you watch the video above to see the rest of the miniatures that were revealed. I don't want to spoil too much! I did have to show off this wonderful "big bad" for the expansion box though. Check out this dashing villain!
Nuada // Warcrow Adventures
I love the Fae vibes that we're getting from this expansion box with the addition of little goblin creatures and their Elven-looking lord. It gives me great Hellboy vibes as well which is no bad thing. I really hope that Nuada is a nuanced villain and we get to see him turn into a player character further down the line! I think he's probably the coolest miniature from the range so far and I might just throw in my lot with him and join his cause.

Interesting minis but a game dependent on an app? Nope, not buying into that. If I want to play electronic games I’ll play video games.
Very much so. For me this hobby is all about putting the misery rectangle down for a while.
(Yes I am using my phone to reply oh the irony.)
I’ve played a few games with an app now and as long as it is integrated into the experience in a good way, I’ve not found it a bad experience. I use one for Journeys In Middle-earth and the game is still very much a board game, just with the app sitting there doing the maths.
Different strokes for different folks of course 🙂
I’m not saying that it’s a bad experience or couldn’t enhance the game or even make solo gaming possible (see Imperial Assault) but a board/miniatures game relying on a technical device to function is dead the second you don’t have access to that app any more. Internet down? Bad mobile connection? Power down? App not working on modern devices any more? It’s what in IT is called “single point of failure”. And that’s always a bad thing. Again: I’m not saying “do not buy”. I’m saying “I’m not buying”. But I’m also saying: don’t start crying when your game is… Read more »
Journeys in Middle Earth is an excellent game and as the app is available in multiple platforms including Steam for Mac & PC it should work for a long time.
Down side is that if you buy and expansions you only get it on one platform, so choose wisely. I would avoid IOS as apple only updates to certain point before the app will stop working, that’s not just Journeys though… that’s everything… apple want you to buy new all the time.
This is an interesting comment, as more and more games are requiring Apps to play. Playing Infinity is difficult without the App, and the new Batman Miniatures no longer ship with cards requiring you to play with their App. Most skirmish/war games I play have a companion App that really help the game.
The figures are fantastic looking for game’s.
No app but I’ll find it hard to resist Fat Lemmy.
