Continuing Your Super Dungeon Exploring in Von Drakk Manor
March 11, 2013 by dracs
Soda Pop Miniatures are expanding their popular chibi fantasy board game of Super Dungeon Explorer with the new Von Drakk Manor set.
This new set brings the unique chibi art style of Super Dungeon Explorer to the gothic setting of a haunted mansion, ever a popular adventuring destination.
The expansion set looks like it will have all manner of cool new things to bring to your games, including new adventurers and monsters.
These miniatures are excellent, with the spider being a particular favourite. This addition to the board game looks promising and should help to add a new dimensions to your games which will be very welcome if you have found them growing stale.
Do any of you like Soda Pop's board game? Would you pick this expansion up?

Is a standalone or do i need the original one ? Right now i’m very interested because i love gothic themes.
This is an expansion so you will need the original game too.
My group gets a hell of a lot of fun out of SDE, am deffo gonna be picking this one up. I actually think this would have made a much better 1st expansion, as Roxor’s monsters were a bit too similar (lots of fire etc) to the core game. Both good expansions but this one I’m really looking forward to!
I love my SDE and this will be a great addition to it.
I love this game and I have waiting for this expansion to come out. I got to get all the minis painted from SDE and CoR now.
I can’t wait to pick this up.
Have the original SDE loved it and have been waiting for this xpac to come out ^^
no new tiles is a huge disappointment.
Agreed – considering that you don’t get many in the base game anyway, it’s a real shame they missed the opportunity to ship VDM with some graveyard / catacomb / mansion tiles.
I love the style of this, so cute. I might even be able to get my daughter to play it with me. Two questions for any knowledgable soul out there. 1. How easy is the game to play, I play a really simplified version of D&D with my daughter (who is 6) would she be able to get this? and 2. Does anyone produce sci fi minis in this style?
I think the basic game mechanics are pretty simple, especially the way a power or attack is expressed in terms of the different colour dice where green is better than red, which is better than blue (and the better the die is, the more “good” results it has on it’s faces). Also, each character really only has 3 – 4 unique abilities which means it is relatively easy to learn how your character works. It gets a little more complex when you start looking at status effects and AoEs.. which are much like they are in D&D so you will… Read more »
I have played some SDE with my 2 girls, aged 6 and (nearly) 5 and they loved it, getting the hang of the mechanics very easily and having a great time. I, of course, took it quite easy on them in terms of being the console, I wanted them to have fun, not beat them to a pulp, that’s what their older years will be for 🙂
I have been wanting to get SDE for a while, well ever since i seen it on Watch it Played on youtube.
Heh I saw VDM was available to preorder on Wayland this morning for ~£35 and I thought, hey, that’s pretty good, maybe I won’t order it from the US after all.
And then I checked this evening and it was £45.
Doh!
Might have to snag this one off the shelf. Love that game, but my crew needs to play it more. It’s been a several hour crawl for us each time so far
i hop they review dis game or chat about it i just love chibi miniatures
