CMON Acquires Licence For Night Of The Living Dead
November 1, 2018 by cassn
It has been 50 years since George A. Romero brought the cult classic Night of the Living Dead to our screens (and our undead hearts). Now CMON have announced that they are partnering with Living Dead media to create a series of Night of the Living Dead tabletop games!
In a statement from CMON, CEO Geoff Skinner said:
Night of the Living Dead is the quintessential zombie movie. It’s an honor to work with such a property, and we are excited to be able to partner with Living Dead Media and Image Ten on creating a game worthy of the movie’s legacy.
CMON have already previously teamed up with Living Dead Media to produce a board game based on the hit Netflix series Narcos. That game is due to arrive in stores on November 23rd, so Romero fans will be able to get an early idea of the quality of this collaboration.
Living Dead Media is also going further, by donating a portion of the profits from the game to the George A. Romero Foundation. The Night of the Living Dead series won't be available until 2019, but we have our fingers crossed. Let's hope a classic movie can spawn a classic board game.
What classic movie would you like to see in board game form? Give us your ideas below!

Brains Brains.
Naw. Zombies didn’t eat brains until the 1980s (with Russo Zombies). Romero’s zombies are less discerning (they’ll just eat everything).
Lol.
I’m not sure how they’re going to make this be different than standard Zombicide to be honest.
They’ve kind of done ‘modern day’ zombie already.
And I think they’ve been to the mall within that series as well.
Less fighting, more running away from stuff ?
The visuals and models will look good, but the mechanics themselves ?
Will it be a bit more than ‘modern’ zombicide with new graphics ?
Yeah, Night of the Living Dead is the source of the zombie mythos they were already using.
I’m really curious whether this is going to be different in any major ways, or if it will just be new Romero inspired scenarios for Modern Zombicide.
I really have Kickstarter and boxed games overload, it’s all a bit much now it really is.
So true.
And yet, I still keep buying more 🙁
This will be the edition of this game I finally buy. Ive been sitting on the fence about picking Zombiecide up for ages and this will seal the deal
Same ditto. I skipped GH and 2nd KS because I didn’t care for the pop-culture survivors.
The game’s been in development hell to the point that rumors said it wouldn’t be released at all.
As said, while Zombicide has the same theme as Night, the mechanics and scenarios we’ve seen n Z don’t really reflect / support the movie.
If you’re not a fan of Night, I don’t see why you should buy it. CMON puts out plenty of content with each Zombicide standalone, and, unless you know you’ll play all of your Zombicide stuff, you don’t need to buy more.
so they need to remove tanks and runners to make it accurate, and add the army walking in “clearing threats” at the end.
Also, since Night of the Living Dead has no copyright and is public domain, have CMON bought the license to produce a game they could have produced without a license?
The public domain aspect only applies to the original movie in the USA according to the wikipedia.

As such it probably helps them when selling their game globally.
Surviors trapped in a building/location. Needing to fortify and withstand the horde of zombies gathering around the building through out the long night. Limited food and resources. One survivor inevitably cracks under the pressure (traitor mechanic) and either goes crazy or gets other survivors killed do to stupidity.
Could be fun.
Sounds like Dead of Winter without the Winter.
they’ve got barricades in Green horde too, so it’s not *that* new to the series.
I’m not sure there have to be traitors, but ‘secret’ objectives could be interesting aspect for this version.
