CMON Launch Funding For Masters Of The Universe: Clash For Eternia
September 16, 2021 by brennon
CMON has finally launched their Kickstarter and funding for Masters Of The Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia (yep, another long title). They have (obviously) busted through their initial funding for this clash between heroes and villains.
Masters Of The Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia // CMON
In Clash For Eternia, the players will either dive into a one versus many encounter where heroes work together to take down Skeletor and his minions or a cooperative endeavour against the game itself as the inbuilt AI takes over Skeletor's villainous hordes.
Masters Of The Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia Details // CMON
The game features plastic miniatures for all of the heroes and villains alongside their allies and troops that have come to their aid. This is different from Archon's Masters Of The Universe board game in that you're not moving around Eternia in a larger adventure but instead fighting out battles, skirmishes and clashes on a hex mat.
If you'd like to see how the game works then you can check out this tutorial video below...

You can also download the rules for the game HERE and have a read of the basics if you need to know more after watching the video.
Pledges & Stretch Goals
So, you're intrigued? Well, check out the core pledge for the game here...
Masters Of The Universe Pledge // CMON
...plus all of the stretch goals that have been unlocked so far. As this is a CMON Kickstarter, of course, there is a lot of plastic involved. But, I'm sure this will be right up some folk's retro street. Nostalgia mode engaged.
Masters Of The Universe Stretch Goals // CMON
As well as the core pledge and that list of Stretch Goals (which is only going to grow), we also have this Defender Of Greyskull Pledge.
Defenders Of Greyskull Pledge // CMON
This adds a HUGE Castle Greyskull in plastic to the set alongside a set of raided pieces of terrain to add some 2.5D to your games. It also comes with a working drawbridge because everyone loves fiddling with little widgets when they're gaming.
I do like that this game comes with different modes of play and it's neat to see that it's got this skirmish battler mentality behind it. It seems like a fun toolkit for those who want to play with their favourite heroes and villains from the Masters Of The Universe.

It should also be noted that this game is NOT available to those of us in Europe. This is a "rest of the world" kind of deal so keep that in mind. You could have some nice friends over in the US who would be willing to send you this if you ask nicely of course?
Are you tempted by this new monolithic Kickstarter from CMON?

Don’t get me wrong I am the correct age range to have enjoyed MOTU as a child – and I did and I had plenty of the action figures – but I am not sure how or indeed why is still a popular range. Let’s be honest the cartoons don’t hold up, the recent Netflix series by Kevin Smith divided fans and was met with cries of “Kevin Smith raped my childhood!” etc. So am I missing something? is there a hidden expansive mythology that makes this more than just an advert for toys? Or is the sudden resurgence just… Read more »
it’s just certain kind of people that get outraged when something doesn’t fit they sensibilities while pretending like nostalgic thing is better than it actually was. So no, you are not missing anything.
The Revelations cartoon was an abusive, woke pile of manure. A deceitful waste of a licence and art. Pretending it was the fault of the viewer is daft.
Yes, the original was better. it wasn’t spitefully, insultingly derogatory and respected the characters rather than wilfully diminishing them to suit a petty, immature agenda.
I can’t agree with that in any of those points. Besides as soon as you used term “woke” it was sign that I have no reason to take your opinion seriously considering that you very likely scream about “cancel culture”. while wanting everything that doesn’t fit your sensibilities canceled like hypocrite that you are. If you feel that was personal attack then you need to grow up.
Ah yes, the old ‘I disagree so I’ll attempt to dismiss you’ nonsense. It’s boring.
I was being polite. I could have used far, far stronger language. It’s a rubbish interpretation. You can choose not to accept this. It doesn’t change the evidence.
You’re the one making it a personal attack. I didn’t. I addressed the shortcomings of the cartoon. it is woke tripe.
woke, woke, woke, reeeeeeee
“abusive”? What fragile, man-childing nonsense are you going on about?
Fragile man-childing? As with above, play the topic, not the man.
I’m not sure where you’re right, though. KS has been churning nostalgia-fueled IP-based miniatures games for years now. Why not include MOTU? Or, rather, how is over a million dollars in funding not a sign of popularity? And what corporation? CMON? Archon? They’re not toy companies on the scale of Hasbro, who can and have run their own crowdfunding campaigns. Yeah, I get that *you* are not interested in the plastic. That doesn’t mean that someone else isn’t. I’m actually not either, and don’t understand why Cryptozoic has to make fifteen different Rick and Morty games, but, evidently, someone wants… Read more »
Nostalgia is hot, not just right now, but like for over a decade now. They did make a new He-Man cartoon about 20 years ago that was much better, I think that did help the franchise’s reputation and worth. The new show is silly garbage, basically made for no one, though I don’t know why people care about crappy things so much that they need to take to the internet to complain endlessly. Kevin Smith hasn’t made a movie in over a decade that couldn’t be accurately described as “embarrassing,” so it’s really no surprise. Oh, and the Toys That… Read more »
Good looking stuff but shame that we in Europe wen’t be able to get our hands on those.
But us in Europe did get the better models from that other company whos name escapes me and I can’t be bothered to look up. And I guess they will support their game longer then CMON ever will 😉
🙂 Archon Studios
the models from the Euro version … and an improved version of the game mechanics in the CMON version would make for an interesting game.
I think the ‘song of ice and fire’ is the only CMON game that has had long term support.
Looks good a full game video of this would help people decide on the game plays well for their style gaming.
We can be sure of two things; it will fund, and nobody will ever play the game more than once.
