CMON Discuss More Details Of Upcoming Mordred Board Game
July 10, 2023 by brennon
CMON previewed more of what's coming up for their newest Kickstarter board game, Mordred, at the end of last week. With stunning art from Adrian Smith and sculpting by the likes of Remy Tremblay, this one is looking pretty fascinating as it brings Arthurian myth and legend to the tabletop.

In the trailer (see below) we get to see more of how the game works. Each player takes control of one of four asymmetrical factions and vies for control of the British Isles and the Fae Realm whilst also seeking to earn the favour of Mordred, Morgana or Merlin.

The factions include the Hobyars, the High Elves, the Humans and the Underground Dwarves. Each of them comes with their own way of playing the game and interacting with the unfolding story being told at the tabletop. Mix that with the powerful Arthurian Knights, the favour of characters like Merlin and many a strange creature from British Folklore and you've got the makings of a fascinating game.

CMON also held a discussion with the team involved in making the game last week as well. In that video, they delved deeper into the mechanics and discussed the experience as a whole. I quite liked the Fate cards and how they work. You gain a boon at the time of using them but they get added to the Cauldron and eventually, you'll uncover the consequences of your actions. It's neat to have game mechanics where something is going to come back to bite you.

I also really like how the game expands as you play through it and find yourself exploring the Lost Lands. It seems like CMON has nailed the themes and the vibes of this game if nothing else. I am very interested to see the game being played! Make sure to watch out for the Kickstarter this week and this could end up being one for lovers of Arthurian legends.
Could you be tempted to snap this up?
