CMON Share Details On Masters Of The Universe Board Game

CMON have begun to share some details as to the creation of their Masters Of The Universe: The Board Game. Michael Shinall, one of the designers of the game, has started talking about nailing the feel of Masters Of The Universe.
Masters Of The Universe: The Board Game // CMON
As well as getting a look at the first miniature for them, He-Man, we also learned that there has been a serious amount of work going into making sure that each of the characters feels impressive and heroic (or villainous). This means that the mighty He-Man and Skeletor will feel as epic as you would imagine but also characters like Ram Man, Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw and more.
To that end, He-Man is strong and mighty and able to do actions befitting of the strongest man in the universe whilst Man-At-Arms (one of my favourites) can bring all manner of gadgets and weapons to bear. Their hope is that when you play their game you get the feeling of "wow, that's awesome!".
CMON seemed to do a pretty good job on Marvel United and managed to capture the feel of each character from the comic books. I would hope that we're going to see the same from their Masters Of The Universe game.
We shall have to wait and see what the gameplay is like!

Sounds interesting, sadly not available in europe.
Although, ironically, there’ll be an alternative He Man game coming out from another developer which will be available in Europe (but not in America). It should be coming from Archon Studios instead of CMON.
Honestly Europe is getting the best end of this deal. Archon studios are going to produce hard plastic detailed miniatures for thier game.
Cmon will just push out the same shit plastic minis they always do… which really arent that great.
I wouldn’t say their minis are ‘shit plastic’ …
I do expect CMON to be pushing a boatload of stretchgoals and kickstarter exclusives to the point that one has to wonder if they playtest them.
However I just wish people could choose to buy into whatever variant they like best.
I know, I already got their He-Man and Skeletor. But it would be cool to be able to get both games in europe.
Last I heard, the Archon print run will be only 2000 copies. Archon’s game systems are iffy, although this First Impression on BGG isn’t particularly negative (or positive). IMO, CMON’s plastics are quite good, although I’d lean a bit towards Archon’s sprues. (With my limited time, my personal favorite is Tiny Furniture’s resin, although it’s more expensive.)

@ced1106 I can’t say anything about Archon’s games but the He-Man and Skeletor Minis are quite nice.
But Archon is part of Prodos and I think they also had some Kickstarters which took quite some time to deliver.
2,000’s very limited. You can bet they’ll crank the price up for that as well. So basically the Americans will get loads of CMON cheap plastics and the non Americans will get something that almost nobody has because it was produced in very low quantity with exclusively high prices.
Yep. Prodos / Archon’s Aliens Vs. Predator KS was a fiasco. The license holder (21st Century Fox?) took forever to approve models, leading to delays. Prodos itself had poor customer relations. Then came the LOAD boardgame, which not only plagiarized CMON’s Rum and Bones rules, but also claimed an NDA that they couldn’t reveal who they were. Myself, I connected them to the failing Demigods (?) KS campaign, and, along with some other BGG’ers investigating, and they revealed themselves as Archon (or something like that). Further investigating found a connection between Archon and Prodos, in which Prodos moved staff and… Read more »
I have the power of a double six.
Did CMON ever get their accounts audited and signed off? IIRC their stock was suspended?
Suspended. September article that they’ve chosen a different auditor.

Who knows what’s next. CMON still seems to run their business as before. Eric Lang left his position, but looks to have a similar working relationship before his hire. And, of course, just because CMON has ongoing concerns doesn’t mean that other KS creators are less of a risk.
Aha! So that’s why the Archon Studios stuff couldn’t be sold to North America.
Now it makes sense.
