Kiwi Chow Down could mean anything without context. By Kiwis, I may be talking about the green exotic fruit which has a fluffy exterior. I also may be talking about the adorable native birds of New Zealand.

Both of them take a whirlwind combination as they are out for havoc and chaos in the new board game by Detestable Games and Draco Studios. Which is up on Kickstarter, smashing through stretch goals as fast as you can say Whakapapa Village.

Players will need to control their flock of kiwi (bird) by standing their ground in areas of the map, and championing dominance in their areas all for the fight and glory of the delicious kiwi fruit. Players will need to outnumber their opponent's kiwi armies, hoping to achieve the most amount of victory points by taking control of the island and the yummy fruit that lives there.

The game runs across four seasons, with several different objectives to meet, allowing the player to earn different rewards to propel in the power struggle further. With the choices to move to another area, build on it, or feed - it is up to the player to adopt strategy that causes them to remain victorious in the Kiwi Battle of 2021.

As these bird's purpose is to eat lots of kiwi fruit, they will be coming bigger and fatter to allow the player's strategy of bullying the smaller birds off of the board. However, if a bird gets too fat, they will explode! So players must be cautious to not make the little kiwis too chunky.

It is strange, since I have been at OnTableTop, I seem to appreciate miniatures in a board game on a whole new level. I am for sure going to need to go back into my dragon hoard to see if there are any of my games that need a little paint up. Yes, I am aware that I am making my backlog even worse for myself... But when I saw that there are miniatures available as part of the Kickstarter Campaign, I was fully immersed. How could you be offended by tiny little birds dressed for battle?
