Chip Theory Drop More Info On New The Elder Scrolls Game

Chip Theory Games are still a ways off starting up their Gamefound campaign for their new The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal Of The Second Era but that hasn't stopped them teasing more details about it over on the preview page for the game.

March 2023 will see the launch of the campaign which will be for a one to four-player board game that incorporates the entirety of the lands of Tamriel, not just a section of it like Skyrim or Cyrodiil.

You will be exploring the lands of Black Marsh, Highrock, Cyrodiil, Skyrim and Morrowind as well as delving into an expansion that ventures into Valenwood. Either solo or cooperatively as a group, you'll be submerged in the Second Era (similar to that of The Elder Scrolls Online) and be working for the various Guilds that are well known to Elder Scrolls players.
You'll be doing dungeon delving, adventure, combat and more using the mechanics honed by Chip Theory Games in their previous games like Too Many Bones. All of this whilst expanding and developing your characters between their quests.

The idea behind this game is that Chip Theory want to make it their most ambitious yet and also make sure that it feels true to the immense and wide-reaching adventures that are familiar to those who have played The Elder Scrolls video games. It seems like a good idea that they are still working away on everything right now ahead of that Spring 2023 launch! A lot of groundwork needs to be laid!
Whilst the games of Betrayal Of The Second Era are designed to delve into big, flowing narratives, gameplay is kept to two-hour sessions which seems pretty manageable. From what we've seen so far, the designs, artwork and such all seem to have hit the nail on the head. I'm sure we'll find out more as the months roll on and I am very eager to see some proper gameplay.
