Welcome to the Weekender where it's Christmaaaaaaaassss!!!!!!!
Click here to download this weeks Podcast
We talk about what sort of geeky ways we can find to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, before stopping off with the guys from 4Ground to find out what's been happening with Fabled Realms.
Our Geek's Guide To Christmas
'Tis the season to be gaming! We're all heading off to celebrate Christmas, but before we stuff ourselves full of mince pies (with brandy sauce!) we have a quick chat about the various ways we celebrate the holiday and in what way can we use games to make it even better.
Justin is getting ready to introduce his young nephew to gaming using Star Wars: Destiny, while Sam is heading to the digital realm for the age-old family tradition of being terrible at Crash Bandicoot with his dad.
None of our families are particularly into tabletop games, so we wonder how best can we get the family together for a game without it all ending up in a Monopoly-related trip to A&E.
News
Some pretty cool news happening in the world of gaming this week:
- The Angels of Death Animated Series - The new Warhammer 40,000 animated series coming from Games Workshop
- Rylos Space Port from Impudent Mortal - Impudent Mortal's new sci-fi terrain set
- My First Castle Panic - Fireside Games reveal a kid-friendly version of Castle Panic
Which news piece got you most excited?
An Update On Fabled Realms
Justin sits down for a chat with Cad and Ben from 4Ground to find out just what has been happening with their fantasy game The Legends of Fabled Realms.
Of course, this being the 4Ground guys, that's not all that's going to get discussed...
Kickstarters
Just the one Kickstarter today, as we look over the Dized app currently out in early access.
This app is a great idea, providing you with digital copies of board game rules, as well as interactive tutorials to help you get to grips with your new games.
Competitions! - Win One of Two Getting Started Sets For Warhammer 40,000 OR Age Of Sigmar
For our last competition of the year, we have quite the Christmas present as you could be in with the chance of winning your choice of a Getting Started set for either Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar.
Also, three prize winners for last week have been announced in our Prize Claim Centre.
First, we have the winner of the Tanks! The Modern Age starter set from John's game against Freddie. Then we have two winners from last week's Weekender, one getting their pledge for TMS's 9th Age Quick Starter Armies Kickstarter, and another winning a 6x4 table of 4Ground's Dark Age terrain.
Merry Christmas, and have a great new year of gaming!

Congratulations … I admire your dedication Sir

Going to be teaching the kid brother how to play some kill team and AoS. He might also get enlisted in some Seraphon. Nothing builds character like painting skinks lol.
Getting together with friends just after Christmas for a bit of Kill Team and Age of Sigmar… 🙂
I’m really looking forward to playing some Star Wars Legion (just finished painted both Rebels and Imps), and getting in some No Thank You, Evil with the my girls.
It’s the Weekend!!
Although every day for the next 15 is like the weekend for me…
Especially good wishes however to those who have to work through that period for whatever reason!
I agree with Jerry, Solitaire, I love solitaire……..no I don’t, yes I do, no I don’t, YES I DO, NO I DON’T!!! See, no arguments…….Yes there is!!!
For Christmas I’d like to sleep in but I’m on-call.
As for new plastic crack, Age of Sigmar Seraphons. I’ve never played but the models look great.
Fabled Realms! Yay!!
Merry Christmas BoW / OTT !
Family Games to be played this Christmas: Azul, Kingdomino + Expansion and Onitama.
Painted this Christmas so gar: Ork Scrapyard junk and barricades from Speed Freeks.
Still to be painted this Christmas: Adeptus Custodes and Tantaros Terminators
Unfortunately no wargaming for Christmas this year.
Been downcutting the collection and many systems also by necessity. Perhaps a bit too much.
I have been working hard on my Age of Sigmar Gutbusters and my Pure Primaris Chapter.
Next year I’ll focus on making an opposing force for each.
Night Lords for the Primaris.
And for the Gutbusters… not sure yet.
I am tempted by Khorne Daemons (easy to paint), Bonesplitterz or Beasts of Chaos.
good morning and happy christmas
Merry Christmas everyone
@avernos my goodness sir you hit the nail on the head.
Sitting around while the family slowly gets drunker and just waiting for the borderline domestic that sends everyone home is not my idea of fun. I’ll make my appearances and slink back off into my cave as soon as possible.
I’ll be sitting down with some Flashman Audiobooks and the rest of my Dust Minis as soon as possible.
At least my local Group isn’t taking a break so I’ll be able to game over the break.
2 weeks of Hobbying and 3D printing planned.
Knuckduster Kickstarter figures to paint.
Last year Christmas present (ACW Perry Box) paint
Teutonic Knights build and paint
3D print guns and rams for Gaslands cars
Justin’s had his hands on my prize… just how drunk was I that night! Merry Christmas to all beasts and beast followers!
This year it’s “my Christmas” so we’re at home rather than with the in-laws so happy days! My Christmas this year will therefore largely involving wooden train sets at the behest of the boy, and maybe I will add some paint on a model or two
yes yes the weekender – it’s Christmaaaaaaaassss!!!!!!! 🙂 – AoS starter set – awesome giveaway
I loved hellsreach. And the quality is really increasing every episode

Merry Christmas guys!! Love the decorations 😉 My hope is to play some X-wing miniatures, A song of ice and fire and Nemesis
1. Invite a friend to play for the first time This War of Mine and Spirit Island: Branch and Claw.
2. At any time I can, build as many Kingdom Death: Monster expansions minis as possible so I can finally get to play them in the next months (I got them a while ago now!).
Merry Christmas everyone!
Particularly enjoyed the blank faces around the table when Gerry mentioned Nick Leeson in relation to Rogue Trader. Clearly we’re of a different generation!
I feel old
