Carcassonne 20th Anniversary Edition Coming Summer 2021

It is amazing seeing iconic classic games such as Catan and Carcassonne doing so strong after years in service. So when the 20th Anniversary edition of Carcassonne was announced by Z-Man Games, I was over the moon to see what would be different and what they would change/add to a game that is already perfected after all this time.
Carcassonne 20th Anniversary Edition // Z-Man Games
Carcassonne may be a classic, but off of the top of my head - the one thing that could have done with an upgrade is the look of the game as it does look a little outdated - but that is the glory of the game! There was no surprise to hear that Z-Man Games have updated a lot of the aesthetics in the game, including new illustrations, foil embellishments, and lots of easter eggs and details for those Carcassonne fans to notice. There are also some great stickers to add to your meeple to bring your characters to life on the board.

There have been a few changes to the game too, but not enough to cause a sour taste to such a beloved game. But these are moreso updates and upgrades than they are significant changes to the style and gameplay. Certain tiles have been given new features, adding some new actions to make the game feel fresh and new, yet familiar at the same time.
Don't worry! This new edition can still be played with all the expansions available out there, so you won't need to worry about changes to rules impacting the bigger picture of your game.
This edition will be available Summer 2021, and with the newly added features, it will be the perfect opportunity to get new players involved in such an iconic game.

I had it as a kid! Thanks for bringing back the memories!
Its interesting, that from the two classic giants, Carcassone aged very well, its still a perfectly balanced game and very fun game. But Catan cant bear the comparison with the games of today, its too dice dependent and the area selection at the beginning can decide the result… But thats only my opinion.
Nice as a stand alone, but depends on the price. It will look odd mixed in with your current version (and there is already a mix of art style from 1st and 2nd edition), there are no enough stickers provided for ALL the meeples, this seems like a bit of a cash-grab tbh.
