Build A Block Cityscape In Real Time & Backwards In Retro Verso
August 24, 2022 by fcostin
La Boca is getting a fresh new home and look! A brand new edition has been announced from Asmodee, now with a new title - Recto Verso. Players will be constructing a skyline of buildings in real-time, assembling blocks to meet the desired challenge.
Recto Verso // Super Meeple, Tiki Editions & Asmodee
With plans of construction laid down, two to six players will be taking to their grids to erect different shaped buildings. However, the challenge will not be immediately apparent - the card will be on the other side of the table next to the player opposite! This forces you to communicate the building layout like a bumbling foreman against a tight deadline.
Board Preview // Recto Verso
The players will be racing against the clock on their turn, hoping to beat it in real-time and have their building upright and in the correct position working from different points of view. The shorter the time spent on construction, the more points that a player earns. After a number of rounds - the player with the most points will be crowned the winner.

If you are feeling a little less competitive and do not want to add in some downtime between rounds, there was a two-player cooperative mode announced for the new edition.

The game was originally over at KOSMOS in 2013, with the name La Boca. Now taking a fresh and modernised look bursting with colour, Recto Verso finds a home at Tiki Editions, Super Meeple and for final release over at Asmodee. Released on the 19th of August this brings you an abstract strategy title that takes roughly thirty minutes to play through, pitched for ages eight and up.
Would you be interested in trying out the revised and revived edition of La Boca, and organising some building blocks in Recto Verso?
