Blackout: Journey Into Darkness Returns to Kickstarter
October 15, 2015 by stvitusdancern
Sometimes it is hard to keep a good idea down, as is the case with a project that has returned to Kickstarter for its second go around.
Blackout: Journey Into Darkness a dungeon crawler-ish game from Nevermore Toys, that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the survivors have banded together to fight the Brood, an nasty array of monsters, diseased humans and animals.
The four heroes are called the Outlanders and consist of an Engineer, Recon, Slayer, and Tracker; with these heroes you explore the Northern Wastes and try to eliminate this plague that has fallen upon the human race. This game can be played solo or up to 5 players, with one player as the Brood.
As the players explore the Northern Wastes, they will reveal more unknown areas to explore by drawing the appropriate Map Card. The rules even help you create your own adventures once you have completed those in the Mission Log.
As with any good post-apocalyptic game the Outlanders will have to search for items of survival and you will have to put your wits and strength against the evil and secretative Harbinger and his minions.
Take a look at this campaign and see if it is your kind of game, we love dungeon crawlers here and are always on the lookout for something new and exciting. Do you know what is exciting right now? Blackout: Journey Into Darkness has nearly doubled its funding goal and still has 30 days left!
Are you a fan of the post-apocalyptic genre?

Congratulations on meeting your target this time. I can see why, it’s a much cleaner, structured and complete project.
I would be wary of supporting this, the creator has two previous projects that have not been fulfilled or backers are missing rewards from them.
Good to know about the behind the scenes truth of the people that make said KS. I’ll be wery jumping into this then.
Looks really good, but the angry comments on fullfillment on the other project pages from the same creator puts me right off.
sounds good like the figures.
Those look stunning.
Game mechanic reminds me of Betrayal at the House on the Hill.
Saw this KS and loved it, yesterday the $90 early birds were still available so I took one. But then I saw that this one had launched twice before. And after reading the comment section of another KS by the same guy I dropped out.
After the Dust and AvP kickstarters and my own experience with the darklands rulebook KS I have gotten KS cold feet. I’d rather spend my money on stuff that I get right away.
Damn pushed the submit too soon. 🙁 I’d rather spend my money on stuff that I get right away. Or on companies with a good KS track record like Mantic. Sometimes there is stuff out there that blows me away like this blackout stuff, but i’ve gotten wary around KS.
To the wary I understand but I have become a staunch supporter and here is why (warning : sorry, long post by me) I might try to shorten later. Link :
