Build A Beautiful Buoyant City In Mū
January 20, 2019 by cassn
In Mū, you must build a city on the water which is beautifully balanced. Comprised of a 3x3 grid, players must draft and place five types of buildings on their floating city. These buildings have 'source' symbols on them for strength, faith, and food. These symbols are also shown on the player's grids, where half a source symbol aligns each row and column.
Players must align their buildings to complete the source symbols. When this happens, that player receives a source token, which they immediately place on a project. After the third, sixth and ninth building placement, a battle occurs between cities.
Players battle cards dictate which column or row is tallied. The player with the most strength receives 3VP, while other players receive damage on a building. If a building receives two damage, it is destroyed and removed from the game. At the end of the game, players will feed their city based on the number of food tokens they have collected, non-destroyed buildings, and score VP based on the faith of their city.
Mū is a really interesting 1-5 player area management game, not to mention stunningly beautiful. On the one hand, you want to collect as much faith and food as possible, but if you ignore strength, your city may not make it to the end of the game with much value.
Mū will be released on March 11th 2019, but will most likely preview in Festival International des Jeux in Cannes in late February.
What game are you most excited to see previewed at Festival International des Jeux this year?
"Stunningly beautiful!"
