Rising Sun Beasts & Monsters Show Up From CMON
February 5, 2017 by brennon
The world of Rising Sun is coming to the tabletop later this year with a Kickstarter launching in March. The previews from CMON really have hotted up for the models involved with the project and the recently showed off lots of monsters...
One of the big models which will be showing up as part of the game is this utterly magnificent River Dragon. We knew the Blood Rage miniatures were impressive but this is taking things to a whole new level. It's hard to tell scale but I'd imagine you're going to need a fair bit of box space for one of these.
Slightly smaller in scale, we also have the Oni.
While smaller I would say that they are no less impressive. In some cases, I think they are even more fascinating and I particularly love the idea of seeing someone paint up these with their bright red skin against equally vibrant colours.
While the Oni above is the Oni of Blood they come in various flavours with this next one being wedded to the idea of Spite.
It's nice to see that the Oni are taking on various forms with the first being a very typical representation that you might have seen in other games.
There's some amazing stuff on the cards for this game and I think that the Kickstarter is going to be one of those that explodes, much like Blood Rage did. Hopefully, we get to see some good gameplay videos when the campaign launches (or indeed before) to give us an idea of how this gorgeous game plays.
What do you think of these particular monsters?

I’m backing this purely for the minis, the game is 3-6 players apparently which is a pain in the ass, as I’d much prefer a 2 player option. That dragon is stunning.
I will have a good look at this when the Kickstarter hits. Also not really interested in the game, but those miniatures are very awesome, I hope the make them in a good hard plastic or other compound that makes painting them a joy.
For now it is looking good!
Gotta admit, if this game hits the same vibe as Blood Rage, I’ll likely back this heavily
If it is the same type of game, then there should just be the one pledge level ? Not including the early bird option ( which i always miss anyway ). Really looking forward to this.
Some gorgeous mini’s!
I admit I do tend to buy CMON games just because I love painting up their mini’s I’m in love with that dragon. Now just thinking up a paint scheme to really capture the essence of a flowing river.
For heavens sake I want to Typhon pledge mythic Battles Pantheon, go all in in for world of SMOG and I can’t afford either. All of a sudden this lands in our laps in a few weeks. Leave me alone kickstarter!
I look at that dragon and think to myself… man that looks cool, and so difficult to paint ha ha ha
Imagine getting into any of those nooks while paint what a nightmare ha ha
Ooo they are amazingly intricate looking figures.
This really is top tear for models in a boxed game.
Lovely looking figures.
I already play Bushido as I love Oriental themes, so I’ll definitely be getting involved in this. The models look stunning and with Eric Lang behind it, I’m sure the game itself will be great.
they look fantastic, everything about the game is high quality. please give us a resin option though as the sculpts really deserve it, or a least go with hard plastic weapons. it would be a shame to produce such a high quality product with bendy bits.
I don’t expect to see a resin option offered the KS. I don’t think there was for either Blood Rage or The Others. It is a shame that they assemble this quality of creative talent and then offer the product in one-piece or pre-assembled PVC. I did see Studio McVey selling resins of the sins from The Others at shows so it might be possible to pick some of the Rising Sun minis in resin that way.
