Goblin Quests & Wolf Riders For Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
November 21, 2022 by brennon
The forces of The Mortal Realms were not to be left out when it came to reveals over the weekend from Games Workshop. Beastmen and the Goblins of the Gloomspite Gitz got a bit of an upgrade plus we also got to have a peek at a new Warhammer Underworlds warband.

The first miniature reveal was for a new character model for the Beastmen. I was somewhat hoping for more but I shall keep my fingers crossed for the future. Still, the Beastlord looks pretty cool and reminds me why I almost started my own Beastman army a few years ago. Much like with the World Eaters we saw earlier today in the news, I just like the idea of charging forward with an aim of just getting stuck into combat.
I would hope that we're going to be seeing more of the Beastmen including a replacement for those terrible Minotaurs. The rest of the range is pretty decent although it is a little old now compared to other collections.
Wolf Riding Goblins!
Keeping with the furry vibes, we also got some new Gloomspite Gitz miniatures. Whilst many of their kin ride Squigs, there are still Goblins who ride into battle on the back of Old World-style wolves.
Snarlfang Riders // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
The new miniatures are looking pretty cool and a neat step up from what we saw in the past and a good update from Snarlfang's Rippaz back during their Warhammer Underworlds stint. There is something of the Old World about their designs too which might make them a good shout for some rank-and-file wargaming when that system gets released.
Snarlfang Riders // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
It's interesting to see another side of the Goblins from Warhammer Age Of Sigmar although I have to say, I am more than happy with the weird loon-cursed lot that we got a look at when they graced The Mortal Realms for the first time.
Snarlfang Riders // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I won't say no to wolf-riding Goblins with cruel-looking swords and bows at the ready though. Again, it will be interesting to see if we get more in this vein coming out over the next few months or if this is another mini-update for the faction.
Talking of updates, Games Workshop also shared that Gloomspite Gitz and the Beastmen would be the next armies to get themselves Battletomes.
Chaos Battletome: Beasts Of Chaos // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I'm not entirely sure about the cover art there. I think there are much better portrayals of Beastmen out there that could be recreated. This fellow doesn't look quite as bloody and brutal as I would have hoped even with the mound of Stormcast under his hooves.
Battletome Roadmap // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
The Roadmap above also shows off a further two Chaos Battletomes for Spring alongside two Death Battletomes and an Order one. Summer then heralds a single Order Battletome to cap things off for the next half a year or so.
Warhammer Underworlds - Grinkrak’s Looncourt!
As well as the look at the armies coming to The Mortal Realms, we also got another Gloomspite Gitz preview with Grinkrak's Looncourt!

"Knighted" by Grinkrak, the Looncourt have been sent on a mighty quest out into the Mortal Realms thanks to the Bad Moon itself. They are going to be swarming objectives and doing all sorts of nonsense things with their strange array of weaponry.
Grinkrak's Looncourt // Warhammer Underworlds
As you can see, the range is bloomin' brilliant and packed with the sort of dark comedy that makes the Goblins of Warhammer so fun to paint and play with. I really like the Squig lance and the rather impressive and intuitive pavise system that two of the other blighters have set up.
A fun new warband and one that might be great to paint up and get a taste of the faction before diving in proper.
Are you liking the look of these new Warhammer Age Of Sigmar previews?

I love the goblin wolf riders. They are a great update to the older models. I also prefer these wolves to the Oathmark ones (even though these will be certainly more expensive).
Snarlfang riders: they’re phoning it in with the stupid names but yes they’re excellent models.
Those look really good.
Great looking figures Love the beastlord.
Looking forward to picking up Loon court for underworld and hope I can proxy the others for Warcry.
The detail and quality of those wolves are just amazing. Pity you have to build with the riders on because they would be amazing just as a set of wolves.
I am not so struck on the Beastlord. It is not a bad model I think it is just the generic pose putting me off a bit.
Grinkrak’s Looncourt!is the highlight for me. The knight squig just steals the show for me I love the idea of King Arthurs court of goblin knights. I think that is one set getting added to the Xmas list.
Beastlord is a meh for me too. I think it’s the lovely flowing hair both on its head and armpits (that look like he’s just out of the pet-store spa treatment instead of filthy stinking messy fur) that mess it all up.
It’s not animal fur unless you can drybrush it. TBH I feel a little bit the same about the wolves … they are just too smooth and the generic computer-generated fur design that they use on almost everything is just annoying to paint.
Someone has been watching Labyrinth.
