have u managed to get back on youtube yet?
No word from YouTube yet, so we’ll be playing our videos via our website for a bit.
Tell your friends to stop by here if they want to see more from us.

Really? That sucks, how long has it been? 4 days? I would say its about time to have being replied by them at the very least. Will these videos be reuploaded on youtube or stay exclusive on BoW.com?
Don’t forget to visit http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk to get metal mechs and the harder to find CBT books such as Total Warfare, which I guess is the book to “upgrade” to once you’ve mastered the rules in the boxed set. They actually have copies of it in stock!
Also, I’m pretty sure the box doesn’t usually come with two copies of the quickstart rules – mine didn’t 🙁
We must’ve just been lucky! 😀
Same here – one copy only. Shame, ‘cos it would have been a good idea.
There are some introductory and quick start rules on the Catalyst website. I’m not sure if they’re exactly the same as the ones in the box set, but they’re close enough to get playing. The quick start rules even have maps and cut-out mechs.
If you are interested in learning to play the game from an experienced player, check out the Catalyst Demo Team at catalystdemos.com. We are a group of volunteers who set up events at conventions and local demonstrations for Catalyst games like Battletech. Any of us in your area would gladly set something up with you and your gaming group. If you are in southeast Michigan, be sure to look me up!
i absolutely LOVE battletech, Personally its my favourite game. 😀
i would encourage everyone to give this game a go.
BattleTech is responsible for getting me into gaming in Junior High. Always have a soft spot for it. Best part is that I’m now getting my 10 year old into the game. This edition VASTLY improves the maps for the game over previous versions. Either way, fantastic product, and I highly recommend for a great time.
I picked this up when it came out a couple months ago. I’d been out of BattleTech for around a decade at that point. So far I’ve only gotten two games in though.
It’s good to see you guys back. I’m tempted to give this a go at some point 🙂
Arrrrggghhhh Apparently YouTube was OK to view at my office, but your new host is blocked!
I had the old intoductry box set so it was good to see this clip as I can see what you get in this set vs the older one. The old set had really bad maps and cheap dice, painted the minis are ok…the atlas looks really nice IMO I think the clix minis had a different scale to the iron wind ones…i recall they are not always in scale to each other either. But some of them do look nice. Sadly the Battletech minis are a bit …well a lot…awful. Game is nice and the fluff is awesome, i… Read more »
a “some” seems to have gone missing from my post. As in some minis are awful
I have some of the Mechwarrior models at the studio, some are bigger, but most of them you can pop off their base and they’ll fit on a 30mm hex base which is fine for the hexes on the board.
oh dear you use hex maps, call yourself a wargamer?? 😉
nothing wrong with that and the game does work well with them. I agree most should fit on the hex and as such are useable…plus prepainted. I know somone in Cardiff has a huge stock of them and takes em to the bring and buy stalls
Nice to see you guys back in action.
*needmoarcontent*
I reckon you guys should set up a second close cam that’s not quite so close (the ‘not quite so close cam’) for things like the books, it’s a little hard to see very much of anything when showing something like that.
the intermediate cam?
Thanks for the Battletech video, Andy – I’m one that has been champing at the bit to see it! I don’t have this set yet, but I have several sourcebooks, Starterbooks, and about 20 metal ‘Mechs – I’m painting some Wolf’s Dragoons ‘mechs now. I love this game, just getting back into it after about 18 years away. One really cool thing is ALL the fluff from the 25 years of Battletech is still good. A few points values have changed, but the old stuff isn’t obsolete the way 40K makes stuff obsolete. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more Battletech coverage… Read more »
One of my absolute favorite games. How can you go wrong with designing and fighting giant robots!
Also you can totally play it without hex boards, You just convert 1 hex to 1 inch and use weapon arcs and line of sight from the base just like any other wargame.
At least we dont get womans shoes commercials now.
BT was my start into gaming. I loved it and still do. Never had the feeling that to much bookkeeping was needed, most times you do not have that many minis in a game. The ruleset is still one of the best thought out for me, frankly it can not compare to WH 40K but that is due to the different settings. I do wish however that GW would be able to come up with the kind of consistent and straight rules as FASA did back in the 80s! With this new box, maybe I can interest my girlfriend to… Read more »
PS:
There even is a ruleset available making this one a full fledged tabletop.
It was in the Battletech Compendium and is still around as fare as I know.
I have played BT. for more years than I care to mention at my club we use the Kallistra Hex boards and add trees lakes etc. works realy well.
I’m glad to see Battletech get some new coverage. It’s the first war game I ever played and is responsible for many hours of fun. While I still love the game and have 2 companies and one trinary of mechs, I really do wish they’d “modernize” it a bit. I would love to see them develop a “wound” type system for this game. All of the record keeping can get pretty tedious and really punish you for fielding more than a lance/star of mechs. While interesting, the Battleforce rules in Strategic Ops go a bit too far and make the… Read more »
I was, still am, a really big mechwarrior fan and I’ve looked at getting into battletech a number of times. This set is really tempting but I’ve always hit a few snags with the games. The main one is that the quality of the miniatures is very random and to compound that the online stores tend to have very very poor pictures. I’ve often seen poor looking miniatures on stores then the same minis painted up on blogs and shown in good pictures and they look really nice. Certainly makes things a little more complicate. Those “premium” plastic mechs look… Read more »
Yeah, the game doesn’t have to be played out on a board at all. Back in the day when I played it…. some 15 years ago now… we played on fully terrained boards. Turning is fairly easy.Just need to be able to mark where a hex side is and twist the model however far you want to the new hex side. Use your thumb or a die. Everything else converts perfectly to inches. Looking at this box set it kinda reminds me of when 3rd edition 40k was just coming out. The level of artwork, the feel that it was… Read more »
B-Tech!
Hell ya! the game that started it all for me. Without B-Tech my love of big stompy Robots and wargaming in general would of never came to pass
This was also the game that started it all for me. I will hopefully be getting this or some of the other stuff here soon.
How can we look at past content? I just tried and no go
Andy, on my second viewing I noticed 1 mistake: the set actually includes 26 ‘Mechs.
24 “Starter ‘Mechs – enough for 2 Companies!
2 “premium” Clan Omnimechs – a nice start to a Clan Star!
