Battle Together In Upcoming Arena: The Contest Kickstarter
February 1, 2018 by brennon
Dragori Games are coming to Kickstarter soon with Arena: The Contest, which can be played by one to eight players, duking it out on a customisable battlefield with multiple game modes. Take a look!
The game focuses in on a tactical tabletop combat game where you will take control of either a team of heroes and battle it out against an opponent or face down larger foes together.
The Competitive game mode has you building a team focused on archetypal Fantasy roles like Tactician, Healer, Tank etc and then seeing who can outwit the other and come out on top in an ever-changing arena each time you play.
The Cooperative mode in the game has you working together against the game and its many adversaries, including some mighty creatures like that Dragon Boss that you see in the image above.
There is even a Campaign mode where your characters level up and spend their experience to become more powerful warriors. Each time they do they change the course of the game's narrative as you head towards that fight against the Dragon!
You can download a Quick Start Guide which gives you an idea of gameplay ahead of their Kickstarter soon.
What do you think of an initial look at this game?

When I clicked on this I was not impressed but that soon changed upon reading the article. It can cater for eight people and do cooperative, competitive and campaign? If it is below eighty euro then this is great. I play d and d with a group of seven players which six other players, so if we want to do a board game night and it can cater for seven with the possibility of a drop in? WIN!!!
I mainly agree with mage. Solo play for gamers living qfo (quite far off) is nice too. 25 small minis and 1 verly large mini is good. Many tokens, cards and stuff including the grid map: o.k. I wonder what material the minis are made of. They look similar to those from TWD, so something between soft and hard plastic, I guess..
They look as if they need not to be assembled. Pity I could not figure out what scale the minis are.
However, I do not think 80€ will be enough.
This sounds like a good interesting game and the figures look great.
I’m interested. Nice variety of heroes and they look good for RPG use.
If the price is right I’ll be backing
Forgot to mention the controversial bit… the women have breasts… and some are showing cleavage…. someone bound to complain about that 🙂
For proof, read the comments about Medic in Nemesis Kickstarter…
@pagan8th Blah blah blah. There was criticism not because people are prudes but because the female characters in nemesis were so out of character for the setting and the overall style of the other (male) characters. Games such as Conan have a consistent approach that at least makes sense as a design choice given the setting and background material.
Backers always need something to whine about. You can’t please all of the people, all of the time. KS backers are very needy. Just a shame that you can’t block people from comments tab.
I thought it was a roman gladiator game, then i read the article, looks good, ( the dragon in particular ) but it doesn’t float my boat. Hope it does well all the same.
