Battle It Out In Jabba’s Realm For Star Wars: Imperial Assault
August 9, 2016 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games are going to be letting you loose in another expansion for Star Wars: Imperial Assault. The Jabba's Realm expansion takes you to locations from Return of the Jedi and has you battling against the Hutt and his minions...
After the Battle of Hoth you are working with the Rebels to try and get as many refugees out of the path of the Empire as possible. However, your ship has been shot down over Tatooine and you must not try and escape from Jabba's Realm.
As well as the new heroes that you get within this set you will also be putting a Rancor down onto the table. Maybe it will have better luck against your heroes than it did against Luke Skywalker?
Your heroes this time round are a Mandalorian warrior named Shyla Varda, a vigilante and gunslinger by the name of Vinto Hreeda and finally the hulking form of Onar Koma, your bodyguard for this expedition.
All of the characters are once again looking original and exciting to play; drawing on the deep resources of the Star Wars universe.
Heroes & Villains
As well as the characters from within the box you can also get some new Hero & Villain Packs which enable you to replace the tokens from the expansion box. For the good guys we have Luke Skywalker himself and the Alliance Rangers.
For the Empire its even more exciting as you not only get yourself a new Stormtrooper character in Captain Terro but also the main man(slug?) himself, Jabba The Hutt. Now you have access to two big models for this expansion!
Essentially if you are a Star Wars fan then you're going to have a plethora of new exciting things to pick up and play over the coming months. As well as gaming think of the painting potential too!
What do you reckon to the new expansion and packs?

that’s so awesome – I spilled my food 🙂
more than the other expansions – I really want to paint this stuff!
Looking forward to getting my hands on that lot.
I wish I could just set up a direct debit with FFG and get an Imperial Assault “subscription” like I do with Pathfinder so it gets sent to me directly. There is never an IA release that I don’t buy.. because Star Wars.
Maybe Team Covenant do something like that? I know they do one for the LCG packs by Fantasy Flight Games…
…whether or not this becomes a good thing is entirely up to you haha.
A rancor….
How am I supposed to resist a rancor…
There is no resistance, well not for about 20-30 years 🙂
Damn you Fantasy Flight!!!
A Rancor and Jabba!!…..a little bit of pee just came out.
OMG a Rancor, Jabba,a Stormy on Dewback, and Rebel Ground troops.
All we need now are the Jetbikes and this Saga will be complete, the consumers have seen it, it is FFGs destiny.
Damn ran out of SW quotes to mangle, sooo think we’ll get Scum and Villany in Armada?
The figures have so much character – I’ve instantly lost interest in 40k
I need an extra rancor to do blue war-paint on…
and I will have to stuff one of the goodies into its mouth and make munching noises like I did with the 80s toy 🙂
hoooohoooohooo haaaahaaaahaaa hes no jedi.
the minis for imperial assault are getting better all the time.
nice postures everything nice and contained ,no strange angles or odd body mechanics.
they seem to be going more for the rebels or clone wars look, which is a much better way to go than going for high end realism . I would go with an anime style paint job nice and clean. it would along with the nice tiles and great artwork give a really visually appealing and unified look that would be in symbioance with each other.
I spy one salacious crumb
I’ve not played Imperial Assault, but it’s mighty tempting… And this expansion looks great. Except, oddly enough, Jabba… he looks a bit underwhelming, although I couldn’t say why.
After seeing the Grand Inquisitor a few weeks ago, i expected the next expansion to be on Lothal, i guess i’ll have to wait but, i still love this one! The minis are getting better everytime.
This is going to be fun!
Don’t make me be the one to ask “What, no Slave Leia?”
Also, shouldn’t there be multiples of the Gamorrean guards and other thugs?
Also, Also I think the Jabba model is pretty close to the actual puppet, except for maybe the length of the tail. Lighting and camera work factored into our perception of him..
