Battle Against Eldritch Oddities In Arkham Horror: Final Hour
August 2, 2019 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games has shown off another game coming to their Arkham Horror collection. Played in under sixty minutes, Final Hour is a desperate cooperative experience where you're trying to hold off an eldritch invasion!
The premise is that you've arrived too late to stop a terrifying ritual and now monsters from the beyond are sweeping over the Miskatonic University campus. You and your friends must now try and search for the ritual components that you need to put an end to the insanity whilst also battling creatures as they seek to bring you low. The odds are stacked against you in this game so you're going to have to keep an eye on each other!
The interesting twist on the game is that whilst you're working cooperatively you are going to have very little way of communicating with other players beyond some veiled comments and the use of priority cards which tell folks when you're going to be acting. Working out who is going to act when and what they might do is going to be key to victory.
You also have to work out if you can risk going too fast or too slow. Your choices might change how the ancient ones act, either helping their plans along or allowing them to spawn more monsters. This sounds like a fun puzzle and you can find out more about the game on the link above.
What do you make of Arkham Horror: Final Hour?

I am very interested in this game and Deranged. They both seem like fun Co-op puzzles.
Seems a bit weird to focus on combat in a Cthulhu game, but it’s a short play time which makes a change… only Elder Sign has such a short play time. Might be worth a look… if the price is reasonable.
Sounds like a game hellboy may turn up in?
Given that FFG haven’t produced a bad Arkham Horror game (Elder Sign is probably the worst, but thats mostly due to the dice, not the game!) I find this one intriguing.
