During games of Escape From Arkham Asylum, you'll take on the role of iconic villains and try and escape from the facility. Each villain comes with their own unique set of skills that will help them escape and you can even work together, putting aside your differences. It wouldn't be Batman without a bit of backstabbing though and you'll have to match up cooperation with introducing the right time to turn on your "friends" and throw them in front of Batman himself.
Villains look like they have plenty of options during a turn, the layout of the asylum is different each time you play, and you get to control the guards during their activations. It all sounds very villainous and backstabby. You can learn more about the core mechanics of the game up on the link above.
Blogging Batman: Escape From Arkham Asylum
If you want to learn more about the game from Knight Games then you can also check out their blog and their website for the game. Recently they've been talking more about the different mechanics in the game including the way alarms work.
Alarm Board // Batman: Escape From Arkham Asylum
This acts as both a tracker for the game (the array at the bottom of the board) and also a way to see what the alarm level is at. The higher the alarm level, the more bonuses that the guards (and Batman) get when trying to track you down and take you out, dragging you back to your cell. When you get into the red zone, Batman arrives to try and shut you all done. He doesn't vanish even if the alarm level goes down too!
The Batman Upgrade slot will also give you the necessary things you need to do to take down Batman once he arrives. I'm sure being career criminals you'll keep the alarm level low and sneak out with no chaos whatsoever right? Nah!
Are you going to be checking this out on 26th October?

Personal interest says: hmm… naaaah.
KS fatigue is really a thing. I just don’t care any more for things that “might” come into existence at some point in the future…
That’s a box full of fun.
Knight Models (dunno why the KS is under Knight Games, but whatever) has some terrific DC sculpts, but, iirc, their last Harry Potter “Catch the Snitch” KS had some sort of KS issues (and doesn’t look like it’s shipped, so we have no reviews), and they completely missed the point of Harry Potter with their resin line (aka. Harry Potter vs. Spiders). Both game designers of Asylum, Jose M. Caballero Delso, Sergio García Vicente, only have Snitch for their credits. OTOH, The miniatures can obviously be used in KM’s Batman Miniatures Game and other superhero games, and BMG cards and… Read more »
I think they created Knight Games as a brand for their board games
Behind every project there are people who put their ideas and energy into making things so I don’t like being critical on first impressions. But this, just like so many games hitting kickstarter just looks like a mess. A mass of miniatures, tokens, and colour that is designed to wow through quantity of material and not with gameplay.
I sort of hope that picture is just not showing of that game to its best. It just looks a mess of cards, colours and models. Perhaps when I see a few colour images of the games and models I will have a better view of the game.
