Ares Announce Anniversary Edition Of War Of The Ring
July 14, 2015 by brennon
Ares Games have announced that on July 20th 2015 pre-orders will begin for the War of the Ring 2nd Edition Anniversary Edition to mark the publication of The Return of the King sixty years ago...
The new version of the box comes with...
"This new edition of the game will feature a set of 205 figures, hand painted in a high quality style; a hot-foil stamped game board, about 20% larger than the normal board included in Second Edition; a unique hardcover strategy guide, the "War of the Ring Companion", written by Kristofer Bengttson and featuring beautiful artwork by John Howe.
The game board, cards and rules will be updated to reflect all the changes introduced by the Second Edition and to incorporate the latest rulings and frequently asked questions."
The game will be limited to just 2000 copies and will be sold by pre-order only. To reflect the collectible nature of the game it will be limited to one customer per address and on a first come, first served basis.
I can't think of much that would be the perfect present for a Tolkien fan. The War of the Ring game is one hell of a tabletop experience and Ares Games have dealt with it very well indeed. I think this is going to be a masterful collectors piece.
Will you try and get one?

OOOOOHHHHHH!!!!! I’m gunna spunk all my money on this!! It will be well worth the long heated argument with my girlfriend, who (yet again) tells me I waste all my money on toys!!!!
330€!!! That’s the dealbreaker for me. Not that it might not be worth the money (the handpainted minis alone for example), but it is just too much money for one purchase. Ususally that’s 2-3 months of TableTop and other gaming related hobby budget.
But it sure is nice and interesting. Brilliant piece for collectors especially.
