Guide An Ancient Civilization Through The Ages In Mosaic
August 30, 2022 by fcostin
Are you a fan of building up a civilization from scratch, especially something of a tabletop equivalent to Civilisation? Forbidden Games are gearing up to release Mosaic: A Story Of Civilization to retail. After a successful Kickstarter, players are invited to build and populate their own ancient culture to control the progress or demise on the map.
Mosaic: A Story Of Civilisation // Forbidden Games
To start the founding of the civilisation, two to six players will be selecting resources from the four decks on the table to populate the mosaic canvas with different structures. Across the map, players will find the ancient Mediterranean divided into seven regions: Hispania, Gaul, Italia, Greece, Assyria, Egypt, and Numidia. They will select one of seven actions on their turn which develop their ways of scoring and adapting to new technologies in the development of their civilisation.
As each new feature is erected utilising the different resources to build towns, cities, projects and wonders, the more successful the player grows. Plus, as players progress through their game, a scoring card will be revealed from each of the decks. This provides a reason to invade and provides a player with new ways to win.

Storming through new regions and dominating some of the more peaceful inhabitants across the board will rake in some points, whilst tallying up each structure adds to the success of the City. The player with the most points by the end of the game will be crowned the winner and earn the most prosperous mosaic story of Civilisation. The game does require a fair bit of strategy, so if you are interested in the rules before diving in - be sure to download them here.
The title has been designed by Glenn Drover, who is known for his awesome work on Sid Meier's Civilization: The Boardgame, and Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery. This proves they are a worthy designer to bring a new age of civilisation building to the tabletop.

The game can take roughly 120 minutes to play, depending on if you have the whole haul of six players at the table. Otherwise, a game of four can last ninety minutes. Mosaic: A Story of Civilization has been pitched for ages twelve-plus and brings a medium-weight strategy action selection game to the tabletop that focuses on building the most evolved civilisation.
