Time Travel To The 90s In Overstocked Board Game!
June 11, 2021 by fcostin
I am bewildered by the 90s. I was born in '93 myself, and the vast majority of my clothing is vintage stuff I have picked up from my mum's wardrobe, and wear my space buns with pride on my head! When Saved by the Bell and Johnny Bravo was the highlight of my end-of-school day, as everybody was wearing glitter in their hair and carrying around some form of talking secret trapper keeper.
Overstocked // Play for Keeps
Furbys, Tamagotchis, Yoyos and Beanie Babies were in the pockets and/or shelves of every 90s kiddo. So when I saw that there was a new board game on Kickstarter that incorporates these iconic items in a board game format - I had to check it out!
Overstocked is now on Kickstarter and it is down to the players to keep up-to-date on the newest 90s toy fad and keep their warehouse stocked up, avoiding an abundance of unwanted toys before the fad dies out.
Overstocked // Play for Keeps
The game takes place over six rounds as players will choose whether they would like to stock up their warehouse by playing cards. As the player will have to manage their stock efficiently, the player with the most value by the end of the game is crowned the winner.
The game can take up to 30 minutes to play depending on how many players are involved. There can be up to six players getting their hands dirty, however, the game does support a solo mode if you are like me and enjoy using strategy to board game in peace and quiet.
The game design screams as if it has been designed in the 90s. The colours, the toys and even the artwork style fits in theme perfectly with the gameplay. I am sure I had stickers that looked identical to some of the components. Looking at the Kickstarter campaign is making me feel a little nostalgic. All that is missing is some Blow Pens...
If you do want to take your own kids back to the 90s, the game is for ages 6+, so if you want to give them a taste of what it was like in a time where it was much simpler, be sure to get them involved.
The game has got 27 days left to go on the campaign, so if you are looking to travel back to the 90s to style in your dodgy highlights and reconnect with your POG collection, you may want to take a look into Overstocked.
We should be great at Overstocked, we have lived it. Furbys didn't last that long. Well... in my house it didn't I put it in my sister's room after it started talking to me at night!
