The Mighty Fire Giant Stomps Into The World Of Blood Rage
February 6, 2015 by brennon
Painted up by Rogland Painting Service the folks behind Blood Rage have shown off the mighty Fire Giant that will no doubt be quite the insane board game piece (or maybe even just a Kickstarter exclusive) for their Viking themed game...
Now that is one insane huge model for the tabletop. We have no scale right now but it certainly looks like it towers above pretty much all of the human sized miniatures in the game. I do like the sculpt but it doesn't scream 'Norse' to me which is a shape. It looks more South American than anything even with the runic flame sword.
Still, that's one HUGE addition to their game and it will be interesting to see exactly how this fits into the game as a whole. As well as the Giant they also showed off some more of the regular Viking clan members...
Above you have the Serpent Clan Warrior and Raven Clan Leader with a rather awesome looking banner. I love the painting (again by Rogland) on the Serpent Clan Warrior with her fiery red hair. The detail work on her shield is pretty great too. It's pretty hard to turn down anything Viking themed and this game really should be quite the winner.
What do you think of the big guy?

What is with the stubby legs on the gaint? Why do so many sculptors do this? It looks goofy to me now bit if it had legs in proportion it would look really cool.
I think it’s to make it look more ape-like rather than human, giving it an animalistic feel rather than being human. However, I am with you – I like more humanoid giants.
BoW Ben
I think they just about get away with it on this model because of the simian proportions.
But I am also in agreement with you and a giant would be better with more human legs imho
As a more general point, huge muscular upper bodies on puny legs annoys the hell out of me too. Totally with you on that.
Because it’s clearly meant to be ape-like one can suspect.
The prehensile feet suggest this is gorilla based rather than human and I’m fine with that. I do agree that we need more human proportioned big guys or monsters.
Besides of those stubby legs that giant looks rather nice. Other two are really nice and I can’t find faults from those two.
The Raven and the Serpent
Very nice. Makes me wish I had talent to sculpt and paint minis like that
The Standard Bearer needs a bigger base, but he is so good
Great stuff.
Great mini’s and paint, but also not a fan of the ape/giant. Even as an ape, there’s something wrong with the pose.
And what’s better than a foot on a rock? Both feet on a rock, I suppose. Odd that that didn’t get sorted beforehand, given the overall quality of the figure and paint job.
Yeah
TBH It just needed the rock to be bigger and overhang the lip of the base a bit
