Sneaky Sci-Fi Peek At What’s Ahead For Battle Systems
June 1, 2016 by brennon
Battle Systems have done some fantastic stuff with terrain for both Sci-Fi, Fantasy and the Apocalpyse itself in the past via Kickstarter and they are looking ahead to do much the same with another campaign later this year.
As you can see they've gone down the Sci-Fi line again with this terrain but we've got a very different vibe to it. While the previous set had been more focused towards the cleaner and hard Sci-Fi look this one seems a bit grungier and dirtier.
This gives you a look at a whole lot of their different tile sets, walls, doorways and more that you'll be getting. I particularly like the big scenery pieces that have been incorporated into the design.
I'm sure someone is screaming at the screen right now about the type of terrain this is based around thematically but I'm certainly getting a bit of a Fallout and also a Star Wars vibe from it. I could see this being the den of some bounty hunter for sure.
As you can see it has the same high quality of design work put into it as the rest of their range and certainly is getting us excited for where they are going to be taking this.
You can look out for this campaign to be hitting some time this Autumn so watch this space for more information.
What do you think?

The first sci-fi set was great. With this you can clearly see les son’s learnt and the advancement the guys have achieved. I Battlesystems push what they can achieve with the medium used, I expect some special pieces in this range, with glimpse of further advancements for following KS.
What was post-campaign like for anyone who backed previous? Communication, delivery times etc?
Backed all 3 communication excellent
1st – 3 weeks late
2nd – on time
3rd – currently on time
Only backed their last one and communication has been great
They are a very engaging company. I didn’t back the post apocalypse one but backed the previous two and they were more or less on time, communicated well throughout the entire project and even provided details of the ship transporting the final products from China to the UK so you could watch it’s painfully slow progress!
Seems to be a bit of a Stargate Atlantis mixed with Alien Resurrection thing going on
I was screaming star wars , I thought those circular doors looked like the falcon
*waves at QoL*
Backed all three previous campaigns and these chaps are brilliant in their backer participation during and after the campaign. Communication has always been clear and shipping (including the minor mistakes any large scale shipment deals with) have been handled very well.
Need Collin and/or Wayne to come to BoW and show how this set wil integrate with the previous sci-fi (and probably the shanty-town from post-apoc). Walls seem like a step forward, just hope and assume the room items will be interchangeable.
Fantastic news. I was just thinking about battle systems the other day – ordered another sci-fi set – and was wondering what their next project was going to be. This spacehulk/ship idea is exactly the direction i was hoping they were going to go down. Te easiest kickstarter to support this year 🙂
I’ve been in for all three of the previous ones and I’ll be there for this. It’s a great product that just keeps getting better 🙂
Great scenery and great to see Hasselfree mini’s on show.
Those Hasslefree miniatures really are something ! They really compliment the scenery very well. I love this set, it’s really interesting for Eclipse Phase, Star Wars, Infinity, Space Hulk even… all sorts of skirmish games, scenario type games and RPGs !
I like the scenery, I haven’t backed any of their kickstarters though.
I think I am really starting to like clear bases on minis.
looks good, is that Ronon Dex at the door of the last picture?
I did the first KS and the communication , videos for the build of the scenery was excellent . The downside though was my set basically just fell apart during the build. The cardboard was not strong for even very careful slotting together. There was too much cutting to make slots fit and the sci fi design on the card kept tearing off when taking it off the sprues . Also to make the sets durable for ware and tear you had to use super glue on all the edges to make them last. It was too much work for… Read more »
I’ve backed all three so am currently waiting on delivery of the post-apoc stuff. The post-apoc is the first with the new walls that they are using in this new sci-fi KS, so I am waiting excitedly to see how they have designed them. The new sci-fi is only going to be mildly compatible with the old, sadly. I agree that the original slots on the first KS were not as accurately cut as the subsequent designs. The difference between the first kickstarter and the second was massive. they really learned their lessons. Once you cut all the slots and… Read more »
Superb communication and interaction with the backers pretty much 24/1. You will not find better run KS campaigns anywhere.
This look INCREDIBLE !!!!!
I only wish I had pledge to this one 🙁
Brother G
@goochman70 They haven’t started the pledges for this one yet – in the fall
I agree though – on second viewing I’m very sad that I did not pledge the Apocalyptic one
Reminds me a lot of the Nostromo. The set would make a great ‘oil rig’ in space.
It makes me laugh when on other Kickstarter campaigns people moan about communication only being once a month then someone tries to defend them by saying “they’re a small company, there’s only six of them”. I like to point them towards battle systems, because these guys know how to communicate with their backers and there is only the two of them. Met them (mostly Wayne) at Salute. Really nice guys. Loads of time for their backers. Just about all KS’s could learn from these guys. The terrain is beautiful too.
Great product and great guys! These new previews look awesome!
The Gingerclaw strikes from the darkness leaving awesomeness in his wake…
I looked at there stuff yesterday at Expo and was blown away , and once I have the readies , Im a kickstarting
