Battle Systems Offer An Update On Dungeon Crawler, Maladum
August 11, 2022 by brennon
Battle Systems has been updating folks on the progress with their new dungeon crawling miniatures game. Maladum was coming to Kickstarter fairly soon but the campaign has now been pushed back to later this year.
Maladum Box // Battle Systems
Despite the launch of the Kickstarter being pushed back, the campaign is still intended to have the same delivery date. So, there won't be that much of an issue with the delivery of the game to your tabletops. With that in mind, lots of pre-production work is still going on and the game is coming together very nicely it seems!
Maladum Miniatures // Battle Systems
When it comes to the actual campaign, you will be able to back for two different elements. There is the Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron Kickstarter Edition which comes with everything that you need to play the game. Adventurers, NPCs, Monsters and everything else. It will be similar to Core Space First Born and its Kickstarter version when it comes to content which makes it a pretty good way to dive in.
There is also going to be the option to pick up the Battle Systems Dungeon Terrain pledge. This comes with lots of modular terrain for playing out all manner of Fantasy roleplaying games and skirmishes.
Dungeon Terrain // Battle Systems
This replaces the set from 2014 but with lots of updates and improvements. So, it's a great way to supplement your games of Dungeons & Dragons with excellent terrain and expand the options when diving into Maladum.
If you're interested in diving in and finding out more about Maladum then you can check out their Rules Preview, the Lore Of Maladum and Magic In Maladum. All of these offer up a great deep dive into this upcoming dungeon crawler.
Are you going to be picking this up when it arrives on Kickstarter?

It’s not a question of whether… it a question of how much, how deep…
all the way … no sense in sitting on the edge of this rabbit hole 😉
but then I promised myself no more kickstarters so I will sit this one out.
If it is anything like CoreSpace there will be a new expansion in the future anyway.
I’m a huge fan on Core Space, it’s my favourite dungeon crawler at the moment, so I’m very interested in this when it eventually lands..
Looks much better than previous dungeon, has pieces I can use as ruins, and I have money to burn. 😛
Looks like the game mat of the previous dungeon is 2×2. Asked if they could offer a 3×3 mat, or extension to make the 2×2 mat into a larger one.
A bit on the fence with this one. Firstly I LOVE Core Space (and I’ve got First Born as well), but I wonder how differently this game is going to play vs these two games (and to what extent this performs as a “reskin” of the first two games). They are going to share the base mechanics (that’s been confirmed) with the rules tweaked for more melee focused actions and the addition of “magic”. It’s definitely going to be a good buy, especially if you prefer fantasy over sci-fi. But I’m more of a sci-fi gamer, and I’ve already got… Read more »
What I’ve noticed with miniature skirmish games (and dungeoncrawlers) is that, IMO, you only need just one. The trap is that you look for the Holy Grail, and keep buying new variations. Anyway, what I’ve noticed is that, even with a handful of miniature skirmish games, relearning new rules and unlearning the old ones isn’t worth it. I’m happy with Lasting Tales, since the game book has features *I’m* looking for: solo play, an included campaign, random campaign generation, in-between scenario events, beastiary of generic fantasy figures so I don’t have to buy more, etc. If you’re happy with Frostgrave,… Read more »
Stunning looking terrain an the figures aren’t to shabby either.
Game seems interesting and miniatures are very nice.
Much more attractive than Corvus Bellis Warcrow. I like the Minis much much more.
Count me in.
