Battle Systems Begin Teasing New Sci-Fi Game Core Space
October 31, 2017 by brennon
Battle Systems have begun teasing and talking about their upcoming Sci-Fi skirmish game, Core Space, which just recently went through a process of playtesting.
With a Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi setting and some impressive renders so far this game looks like it's going to go far. The characters we're seeing certainly all have their a unique dose of individuality to them which is nice to see.
You can see how some of these models translated over into their finished product thanks to this painted example from the open day of playtesting.
This fellow certainly has a Space Captain vibe about him and I could see him at the helm of a ship heading off on an adventure into uncharted space.
You can see some of the models in situ here as well as they take to a tabletop made of Battle Systems' own terrain.
Hopefully, we'll be able to see more of this game come to life in the near future and explore just what it means to play the game. With a skirmish edge to it we're hoping for an almost Firefly-esque experience on the tabletop.
What do you think of their previews?

great looking figures.
Nice set of models. Pretty interested to see where this leads – hopefully a suitably generic sci-fi ‘verse where I can draw inspiration from Firefly, Expanse, Killjoys, Star Wars and the full gamut – loving the cheeky wee AI droids too.
Colour me interested
I absolutely love Battle Systems and this game setting looks like it’s right up my street
Killer robots…I`m in
Those look really good.
This looks really cool – not sure I can fit another game in my collection though
@richdean yeah you can 😉
The only thing missing is painted mini and we will have a completed Miniature game ready to play , I really like their stuff
Show me more! I’m in!
This looks sweet 🙂 excellent box cover as well
Looks great. Hope the rules are as good as the minis and terrain.
I was lucky enough to take part in the play-testing. Here’s what I wrote about it: I enjoyed it. They have captured the essentials in quite a clever bit of rules writing – it isn’t complicated but it manages to take into account lots of aspects like ammo expenditure, armour, health and fitness without you needing to continually look things up. About all we struggled with were the skills, and I think a couple of games would sort that out. It’s a dungeon crawler at heart, but I have to say the background was really fab. That sounds very promising @bigfatfred – thanks for the insight!
