Knight Models Announce Batman Miniature Game 2nd Edition
August 18, 2017 by thisisazrael
Knight Models have spent the past five years growing their Batman Miniature Game and it's been going really well.
The game has had two expansions since it's core rulebook and we've seen the introduction of "Batmatch" organised play system too.
"Well, we have not rested on our laurels. Something new and very, very exciting is happening to our favourite game. We are delighted to announce the imminent arrival of the 2nd Edition Batman Miniature Game rules."
Knight Models have explained that through thousands of recorded games and feedback from customers they will be improving the rules but keeping the game players know and love the same as it's always been.
Streamlining mechanics, making rules more intuitive and fun while bringing together hard to find rules into one book.
As part of the new edition launch, new miniatures in a high-quality, coloured resin will be produced to the same display-quality standards we've come to expect from them.
They have also reassured customers that every model in the existing range will remain compatible with the new rules.
I am really stoked to see what the 2nd Edition brings and can't wait to see the new sculpts.
What do you think of this announcement and are there any characters you'd like to see added?

I am excited and curious to see what they do next. There is a huge amount of uncertainty over this as players are not sure what is going to change or if the whole thing is ultimately just an editing exercise.
The switch to resin has been accompanied by a huge chunk of the existing range being moved to KM’s ‘direct only’ webstore legends range to the point where some crews no longer have crew boxes available at retail. This suggests a sweeping refresh of the range is going to roll out but how long that will take is anybody’s guess.
I will be following this with interest as I love Knight models, Batman minis. I own several individual sculpts but have never ventured into the game itself. If they maintain the same quality I would love to move away from metal (This is particularly fresh in my mind as metal KOW regiment base took a fast trip to the floor last night and I am currently sorting through the carnage).
That scenery is incredible I have never seen it before if it is old , more of this please it looks fantastic.
It is old scenery, it features in the first rulebook but has never made it to retail sadly.
Cheers … and bugger …. It is so nice
I think one of the issues with the scenery here is it’s playability. It looks awesome (and would be a cool centerpiece) but playing across it would suck. The usable surfaces are too far apart for movement. Most games would end up played around the buildings’ footprints and you’d essentially just have two squares cut out of your battlefield.
It’s not beyond KM to do big terrain pieces though, their Arkham Asylum is amazing.
This Bane model looks badass !
Will buy for sure and might make hobby night project out if it.
Yall need to do a how to play on this plz !!
Come on guys …. help us slow gamers out !
Ive got a full board of terrain and like 7 gangs and have NEVER PLAYED A GAME ! need one of yall great tutorials to lead the charge !
I would love to see more coverage of Knight Models stuff on BoW.
the buildings look fabulous.
As thrilling as that board looks I would not want to own it just because of its size.
With that said I look forward to the game rules as it might get me into playing this.
Details on the new edition are beginning to emerge, and it is starting to look like a substantial shake up.
The game is switching from metric to imperal, so cm are out and inches are in. Personally not a fan and it seems to be splitting opinion. Some people like that it will be more familiar with playing other systems, others dislike the loss of the mechanic to spend movement counters and gain D6 cm extra move (this is replaced by a flat 2″ per counter). I always felt that the D6 cm mechanic added a good bit of uncertainty as your base move/run actions remaned a fixed distance, others dislike any randomness to movement.
Crews are being consolidated. The three hero crews (Batman, Green Arrow, Law Forces) are being consolidated into a single ‘Brave & the Bold’ crew. Likewse, Organised Crime, Two Face, Black Mask and Lex Corp are all being consolidated into a single crew (presumably called Organised Crime?). These make a lot of sense as there has alwas been a lot of cross-over in their henchmen models and should reduce the need to differentiate groups of guys in suits, sub dividing heroes etc.
The Poison Ivy crew is being turned into he Gotham City Sirens, incoporating Ivy, Catwoman & Harley Quinn. It sounds like the Arkham City versions of these characters are about to get repacked into one of the new trio packs for 2nd ed launch. It isn’t clear what is happening about henchmen in this crew or if the Ivy plants are carrying over but presumably they will. The Ivy crew often gets played as a Sirens crew already so moving further in that direction makes a certain amount of sense.
Finally, and controversially, the Wonderland Gang will no longer be a crew in the new edition. The Hatter himself is being changed from a Leader to a Free Agent so can be taken in most/all villain crews. His henchmen (Tweedledum, Tweedledee & White Rabbit) already had secondary affiliations but are also all gaining Organised Crime instead. I have had the impression for awhile that Knight Models were not sure how to develop the crew further so are removing it instead. Wonderland Gang hasn’t really appeared in much media outside of the comics with only limited appearances in the Arkham games so are something of a marketing challenge outside of Hatter himself.
