Managed to post ths on the wrong video :s
Well, there were a lot of minutes of video game trailers in this one.
Justin tends to get distracted by shiny things…
The problem is not so much the amount or the length (ooh-er), I can and did skip them. It’s that a touch under a third of the running length of the show went on them. If it was a thirty minute show with 10 minutes of video game trailers added in then I can live with that. I can live with non-wargaming discussions, such as the Batman digression (my vote for the next Grant Morrison-related digression is Doom Patrol), but these are videos I can watch anywhere on the web. One of them is still on the BoW front page.
Don’t disagree, my preference is for most of this multimedia content to go on the Front Stage Weekender and keep the XLBS wonderfully low tech. The Weekender works best when it seems like a discussion on gaming you’re having with your mates and it’s best bits are often those which spin off at a tangent rather than following the discussion points. Giving such a proportion of the running time over to trailers breaks the spell, at least for me. I obviously can’t speak for anyone else.
Although I am not a fan of e-sports and I was rather hoping that the next HG installment would be a story focused game like the previous two releases.. I have to say that I think that what Stompy Bot are doing could actually work. For one, the dueling circuit already exists in the base setting so they aren’t trying to force a competitive element into a game where it doesn’t fit. Another factor is that, although the animated Heavy Gear series was not awesome, it was focused on arena action and you could definitely see the potential for a… Read more »
I think we need a picture of the steampunk!
