Nice manicure @johnlyons ! I use the same nail polish!! 😛 😛 😛
Those googly rivets work so well that at first I forgot that they were an addition and not just meant to be there. 😀
That was the stand-out thing for me. They’re a great touch.
Great colour choice, looks just like a vehicle mounted weapon system.
Make sure it still fires before hiding the screws, better to find out a wires been left unplugged while the gubbins are still accessable.
Does the gun still function ? I’m assuming you did test it on a suitable target …
Filling those holes may not be a good idea if you ever need to dissassemble the gun in order to fix the mechanism. So I think that whatever material you pick for that job ought to be easy to remove.
@johnlyons are you upgrading the electronics/motors at all?
That looks great! I do second the comments above regarding testing the electronics and ensuring the filled bits can be accessed again should the need arise! Wouldn’t want the work to go to waste!
Can you get or make some rubber plugs for the crew hole’s so you can still get to the innards of the gun.
Damm good job John.
looking good John, it’s looking good.
The wobbly eye things look good too lol much better then i thought they would. you did your homework well.
You could fill the screw holes with Blu-Tac/poster putty. It can be painted over and, if necessary, can be picked out with a toothpick when you need access to a screw.
Looking at it again, some of the screw holes wouldn’t be particularly well served with the Blu-tac, but some of them still would. Another note, is that a lot of actual weapons have a surprising number of screw holes, especially around “bolt on” accessories like picatinny rails and hand grips. So those don’t necessarily destroy the illusion.
Looking great!
You said you had to prime it with plastic primer so it can move with the plastic but does the paint on top of that need to a specialist paint to cope with the movement?
