I think soft tone on the cloth would bring some depth. It looks quite flat compared to the rest of the model. Beautiful work overall.
I am starting to think that. But I am also worried that I might apply it too much and end up with just dirty looking cloth.
What about a very light blue/grey wash. I agree the Brian would look dirty, but a light blue/grey may tie in nicely with the blue armor and add depth.
I think a wash made from Vallejo Panzer Aces Track Primer, just painted into the deeper recesses would work wonders. It’s a very flat brownish grey and would give a nice, subtle shadow. Soft tone or sepia style washes are gonna be too yellow and will indeed make the cloth dirty.
How are you gonna paint the Gryph-Charger?
You’ll find out soon 🙂
Love the direction this is going in @johnlyons – I think the Stormcast are turning out wonderfully and I love the purity of that white/cream against the blue armour.
The metallics are coming out very well too!
Looking great, I was surprised how much fun these models are to paint 🙂
nice job John love the colours you’ve used on this force,
Looking ace – I can’t wait to see them finished!
@johnlyons I don’t remember if you’ve said anywhere whether you’ve actually played AoS or not. Either way, have you had any thoughts on what you’d like to get to expand this selection?
I haven’t played AoS yet. So I have no idea what I would want to expand this with. But perhaps get more melee units. As the ranged is nice, but not what I imagine the army really needing.
I thought that might be the case. What about aesthetically-speaking? Anything you want to add because it just looks cool?
These are looking amazing! Love the brightness of all these thy are really coming together It may be a touch too far (especially when your the one painting it) but I can’t help but think I line of red dress tail around the cloth would really set these guys off. It will lessen the impact of the bright of them so you wouldn’t need to go in with a wash and also it would tie in with the padded cloth on he artillery guys too I’m thinking a line across the bottom of the cloth as red and maybe even… Read more »
It has been playing on my mind. I think i’ll give it a try and see what we get 🙂
It’s always the way that a new paint scheme always looks ugly, right up until when it doesn’t. 😀
And this army has just passed that tipping point! Everything has come together with an almost audible *snap*
I’ve never really been enamored with the sigmarines, but these are so sharp that I’m considering them again. Maybe I’d might trade for just a few to paint and run in a Frostgrave warband.
Oh now look what you’ve done, talked me into buying into something I didn’t think was particularly interesting. 😛
They are coming along nicely the leather is looking really good with so little quick workwork.
WOW really like that gold, so glad i can come back to these over and over again.
