Really looking forward to this John
I’m thinking about a scheme like that for a pulp crusaders army with their own background etc 🙂
Been think a lot recently about taking a pulp approach to dark age period stuff and adding in some high mysticism and vibrant colours 🙂
They will look gorgeous based off your test mini. I agree that golden Stormcast are a bit much, which is why I’m going the silver Hallowed Knights myself, using the Steelheart’s Champions as test minis, like you. 🙂
Really loving the new Stormcast so this should be good to see.
Hey @johnlyons
I love your paint scheme, I´m planning to do some Anvils of the Heldenhammer, kind of “Blood Angels” like.
The Stormcast Fluff is awesome, a little on the trash side of things, but thats what I love. When I´m ready I´ll do a project. Can´t wait to see your finished Army.
im looking forward to the painting of these im toying with the turquoise colour scheme on another project of my own.
what was the thumping in the background of your Vlog has @Warzan been auditioning for a role in riverdance?
Love the colour scheme John, can’t wait for the rest of the blog.
Beautiful test model and the army will be gorgeous if it matches that. But it’s not the Celestial Vindicators (and now that I realize I’m “that guy,” I think I hate myself even more than usual.)
That is a nice looking Stormcast, maybe you will inspire me to get back into mine… they are waiting on my painting desk. 🙂
looks amazing, would like to see the dark read cloth but like to see how you keep the cloth as clean as you can when painting the rest of the mini. looking forward to seeng the vlog.
Nice to see some of the colour schemes. I expect to pick up the Shadespire box so need ideas to steal.
This looks fantastic! I always enjoy your projects John and now your doing AoS I think I’m going to enjoy it a whole lot more, really can’t wait!
Having just stepped back into the Warhammer world with Age of Sigmar I can say I really enjoyed painting these models and it was in the painting I realised, these aren’t just fantasy marines … I ended up going with the gold and blue because I liked it so much but I toned down the gold by starting with bronze and giving that gold highlights. It seems to add some weight to the armour and although still cartoon style, looks a little more “real world” at least in my eyes 🙂 Really looking forward to following your vlogs on this… Read more »
I like the clean look, I’ve got my stormcast from soul wars still to do so I’m interested to see where this goes
Really nice colour scheme, something a bit different but eye catching. I’ve been feeling a need for some more colourful painting myself recently so this will be a fun project to follow. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the army growing.
Looks fantastic, although I actually am a fan of the gold Stormcast, I do like the colourful schemes for them as well.
For my sacrosanct chamber Stormcast I’m planning on the gold armour with red robes and grey tabard, with some of the detailing on the armour and iconography picked out in a bright blue.
Will post pics in my AoS build and paint project when the time comes.
Oh! I like! that test mini!!! Thanks for taking us along yhe ride 🙂
I think this would have been a good army to use the greenstuff world colour changing paints on the armour. Like the Celestial Azure or something. Still, I do like the colour scheme you’re going with.
Wow John, the test mini is superb! Looking forward to following along. I’m still not decided on what AoS direction to go, but then I still have all this 40k to finish as well!
Very nice test figure a slit Gray blue to it the bàlista looks good very Roman.
Much better than the all gold look and I think that a red cloth would look odd and your choice works well.
So it’s the Ultra sigmarine army ? 😉
nah, just kidding.
The colour scheme looks great.
If anything the standard gold has always been a colour that ought to be limited to a single character or an elite bodyguard unit for a leader..
Damn he looks good, went with Hallowed Knights myself.
