For the verdigris wouldn’t it be easier to start with green base colour?
I’m not too sure about how the OSL from the eyes and mouths would look across the whole army, maybe just save it for the character models and go for a light source from inside the capes of the troops. Might give the effect of power levels and army control as the more powerful elements have a stronger more vibrant glow. If you do end up keeping some underglow on the troops it would be cool to see the lighting carried onto the bases, like a car that’s been given undercarriage neons. As for the metals the verdigree is a… Read more »
Can’t help but atm this army looks a bit dull to me. I hope the glow effect will change this impression.
I really like this army already. It’s not a ‘pretty, shiny ghost’ movie army. These are true haunts. Nasty creatures, all covered in dirt and rust. The earthtones really lend an air of ‘realism’ to them. Like they’ve just risen from some bog. Personally I would go for the glowing eyes on the key characters, and leave the ‘grunts’ with dull, dead eyes.
And darn it John! I was supposed to get Kill Team. Now I’m suddenly tempted to shop haunts.
I think a bit of lighting from the mouth, nose and eyesockets will lift the face even further.
This project is getting added to my “check every day” list. I look forward to how you’re going to add the ethereal glow, man. Really digging it so far. One of my biggest takeaways has been “why the hell have I not airbrushed the army painter tones before…” =P
I think the highlighting will bring them back to life? john.
That was the Highlight of my morning 😛
They still look a bit to dark i think personally.
A bright colour on the edge’s to bring the spooky stories to life John.
Looking really good!
When you spray the AP tones, do they still pool a little, or is it just an even tint? I’m keen to see how the metals come out, they don’t quite fit yet. Is it to soon to start talking about basing? 😀
They still pool a bit, just not as much. And I will tackle basing today hopefully.
the pun was dead awful!
i like the idea of the brightness of the OSL being higher on the heros and more subtle on the troops. as the models paint scheme is quite muted (low saturation? not sure if i’m using the right term) would it be a good look to have the bases have the OSL on them. so it looks like the model is the light source. lighting the ground beneath them with out having a “visible” light source on the models. giving a witch light look and good contrast to the model. ( hope i explained that well enough) may just have… Read more »
I really like that witch light idea!
Very dull and drab at the moment, I guess that is what you were going for though so good job.
I like it, I like this a lot…
