New Wizards & Armoured Knights From Avatars Of War
August 11, 2015 by brennon
Avatars of War start to expand upon their human range with two new models for use in Warthrone. The Cirlean Imperial Wizard and Knight of Drumminor are looking fantastic and would work as great characters to lead an army into battle or as role-playing heroes in their own right.
Spellcaster Supreme
Casting some rather insanely powerful spells, drawing on dangerously volatile arcane energies we have the Imperial Wizard. I think that the paint scheme chosen for the model might make it a little bit too busy a model but otherwise I think it's a good sculpt.
I might also be tempted to remove that sun from the top of the staff and replace it with something else as a topper for it.
Valiant Knights
When it comes to martial might there are none as deadly as the Knights of Drumminor and you can now have one in your army complete with huge axe and eagle companion. A great choice for a Fighter or Paladin potentially too.
I love the big fur cloak, the stance with the axe held beside him and the myriad of other weapons he's also carrying. If this is what we have to look forward to with their human range then I am all for them following it up with a nice set of plastic Knights.
What do you think?

Wizard is a little to busy for my taste. But I love that knight.
Is there a GW release recently that isn’t a cluttered, unfocused mess?
This article has nothing to do with GW, unless i am missing something.
Just saying: No one accuses the latest GW mini’s of being “busy,” even though they are more so than this one. Yet, if you mention it, you’re the devil.
Wow! Really? AoW? I like some of their stuff but I recently threw their dwarf pathfinders in the trash… I sh*t you not. Ill-fitting, non-fitting garbage. Bright orange bag, top of the landfill. Therefore hit-or-miss with them, and I am more than a bit bitter.
I have yet to buy from them, but finding out that the plastics sucks curves me away from them. When you buy proxies that are priced as much as the real deal, they better go together. Sorry @cpauls1 that you had to endure such bad quality. At least we can learn from your experience.
Nice Wizard for Frostgrave! 😉
Those look really nice.
I rather like the knight guy. Hope to see more of these guys in the future.
The wizard comes with that freehand painting skill in the blister too right?
