Avatars Of War Release Royal Elves, Angry Dwarves & Barbaric Shamans
January 18, 2018 by brennon
Avatars Of War have three new releases for you to kick off 2018. It has been a long time coming but leading the way we have the Highborn Elf Princess/Battle Standard Bearer.
This kit comes with four different options for your Elf Princess presented here in full battle armour which is awesome just to star with. I like the halberd and lance options for the character as they look that little bit more heroic.
With a quick change of colour scheme, maybe even simply for the hair, you could maybe even make pick up two of these ladies to lead your force. They could even be a pair of royal Elven twins who lead their army together.
Slaying Monsters
Taking a more savage look at the battlefield we have the Female Dragon/Vengeance Seeker for your Dwarven armies.
It's not just the male Dwarves that have met with shame and now must seek death on the battlefield. Once again you get a number of different options to choose from, each weapon as cruel as the last. I particularly like the great weapon, a proper giant killing weapon that.
Reading The Portents
Last of the three releases we also have the Barbarian Shaman/Witch Doctor for your forces of Chaos and such that are raiding the lands.
The look is rather awesome, presented as a wiry fellow made of what looks to be simply just muscle. You could imagine him being quite the sage but then able to beat you to death with that staff when needed.
You get two different options for both the headdress and the staff opening up your choices once again.
What do you think?

The elf standard bearer/spear options are the best of the bunch, not so sure about the rest. AoW have produced some nice stuff over the years but their releases have been patchy to say the least.
You really think that? Honestly, I love the Shaman.
I think Felix Paniagua does brilliant work for Avatars, I kind of wish we could still see some Trolls from him, honestly.
The female dwarf seems to be the offspring of a House Goliath and House Escher blind date.
Ah.. so this is why you don’t see more Dwarven female characters..
Been waiting to see more from this company because I really loved a lot of their Chaos and Beastmen releases.
But there’s not really anything that interests me here.
I like these, shaman is the stand out for me.
I like the shaman the most out of the figures.
I think they all look great, lots of character. Shaman is my favourite. The only aspect I don’t like is the dwarf’s chain weapons but lets face it there are 2 other weapon options so nuff said.
Really like the shaman. Not keen on the slayer with the axes on chains, or the one with the great axe, but the one with paired weapons looks really good.
I was thinking the same. The only one I don’t like is the twin chain axe slayer, the pose and the chains just don’t work. Personally I think that either two shorter chain weapons or a single large chain weapon might have worked a little better.
Those are very nice.
Like the shaman and the elf. Can’t drink that dwarf pretty.
For me it´s the witch doctor as well. I´d paint him a bit darker, though.
The dwarf with the whirling chains is the reincarnation of the fearsome “Dammaz Drengi” from one of the WFB campaign books. Even the mohawk is very similar. But, haven´t I heard something that female dwarves very much resemble their male Counterparts? So where are the beards?, he gimlied.
