The Army Painter has announced their new paint range which is coming soon! Speedpaint is their new collection which will allow you to get your miniatures to the tabletop ready for games even quicker than you were before.

There is going to be a brand new Speedpaint Starter Set and Speedpaint Mega Set dropping next year which will allow you to paint up miniatures in no time at all. You can see some examples of its use in the image above and in their video (below) where they talk about the process of bringing the range life.

More options when it comes to painting is great and hopefully, this will slot in nicely with the other options presented by The Army Painter. As we've seen with Contrast and the like, miniatures don't have to just be painted using a particular range and can be used alongside traditional paints in order to get fascinating results.
I think we'll be looking to try some of these out in 2022!

What I have seen so far from various youtubers testing samples they look good. I might get myself the starter set once they are available. Just to see how they work.
I have got to admit, depending on the price of a starter set I’m tempted to pick one up, while I don’t really use this painting style much I do find the use for the odd contrast style paint and this way I don’t give G’Wulla any money. Easier to store that contrast and most of the previews seem to look good and all say the paint is more consistent in how it works.
I just learned that (at least the testers) had agitators included in the bottle. Like their Airpaints. If that is their new normal I really welcome that. No need to pop open the bottle and put something in it.
Yes if this is the case it is a very nice move.
No need to pay €5 for some skull-shaped ones nobody will never see either (no names mentioned… two thin coats!)
that is their standard going forward, airpaints already have them and the standard line will be moving to it as well in 2022 if I remember correctly
Good stuff.
Need to get my hands on them to do some testing and comparing, love contrast paints I doubt this will move me away but happy to see the development. Looking forward to the release.
I think I’d see them as two complementary ranges rather than mutually exclusive, be interesting to see what you do with them.
You are 100% right and do hope they play (as in mix, blend, layer) well together but of course, they are going to be compared and spoken about in that way. But yes the hope is more colours.
You can never have too many shades of grey… or brown, or green, or anything really 😀
50 !? Lol
So far sounds good from the few youtube vids I’ve watched. I have not tried contrast myself but as I understand only certain colours produce good results. Early reports say the AP speedpaint is more consistent, time will tell, either way a bit of competition in the market place is good for the consumer. I have a lot of plastic trees to paint this might be a good choice for me.
I’ve seen the same, but I’ve also noticed that everyone seems to have the same 3 colours sent to them so whether they are most consistent or if they just happen to be the first off the production line to send out we shall have to wait and see

Contrast paints are applied similarly to washes, so have the same problems as light-colored washes (eg. yellow) — not that hobby paints don’t have problematic colors!
Fffffffffffffffffffance I’ve just got some new paint (not even poped a lid) an this comes? out may have to get a colour or two do the big area’s.
Contrast paints aren’t really my style, but it’s great to see another company stepping up and taking a chunk out of Gee Dubs’ monopoly on that bit of the market, and for considerably cheaper as well.
IT is always nice to have more choice in the hobby and I am interested to see how some of the weaker colours in the contrast range are in this range. I have seen a lot of people sent samples raving how this is going to take over the contrast range from GW and how amazing they are. However the one video I saw someone actually painting them alongside GW contrast it was clear they are much weaker thinner paints. To be fair the colours he had where among the best contrast ones GW have so perhaps a little unfair… Read more »
Take my money.
There is this video where they have been sent a bigger range

Reaper forums pointed me to Goobertown Hobbie’s DIY Contrast Paints. The recipe is: * 1 part : matte medium * 1 part : acrylic ink * A little flow aid GH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU0rc0EOOys&feature=emb_logo draad tested out a GH recipe : https://www.reddit.com/r/minipainting/comments/co3l41/diy_contrastlike_paints_using_acrylic_inks/ With these paint results: https://imgur.com/gallery/B4O7Bys Why do I think this will work? Because you apply contrast paint similarly to a wash, and I’ve been using Les Bursley’s wash for a year or so, and it consists of: * matte medium * acrylic ink * A little flow aid …and water. So, with the DIY contrast paint, you put into an… Read more »
I’ve been making my own to Les’ recipe since it appeared on dakka in the mists of time and before then I was using floor polish and paint, when contrast first came out it looked and behaved like a thick wash so I can’t say I’m surprised that it can be replicated like that.
