New Age Of Sigmar Starter Set & Game Announced At GAMA
March 15, 2017 by brennon
Continuing the deluge of news coming out from Games Workshop for Age of Sigmar they also mentioned that a new Starter Set is in the works called Thunder & Blood.
The set is designed for new players and will focus on making your leap into the hobby as simple as possible. One would imagine from the artwork on the front of the box that we're going to be seeing the Stormcast Eternals going up against the Khorne Bloodbound again but with some tweaks to the formula.
Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire
The other announcement from the event was Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire.
This new game, based in the Mortal Realms, will be competitive and designed for organised play which is always a good thing to hear. New miniatures and more information lie ahead so keep an eye out for developments on the Warhammer Underworlds front soon.
What do you think they're going to be doing with Underworlds?

So I guess a new boxed starter set. Does the current one need many improvements?
And as a complete stab in the dark, is Shadespire going to be the new Mordheim, similar to how Armageddon seems to be the new Necromunda?
Shadespire: a new set of tight rules for skirmish…Mordheim reborn?
AOS starter not for me but some nice odeas and push fot is a better idea for entry project.
Skirmish system could be interesting, but a GW game designed for organised play, did I lose the end of March
Weren’t you guys going to ask them what Shadespire was? We eagerly await!
I’m very interested in Shadespire, While I’d love to see a new version of Mordhiem (so I can steal figures for Frostgrave) it’s really hard to squeeze competitive organized play out of it. Maybe I’m wrong here but Mordhiem’s quirkiness comes in part from how random and oddball it can be. I’d be interested to see something to push back against the likes of X-Wing or runewars with more of a tactics game vs wargame. Then again I was excited for Relic to surpass Talisman, so what do I know?
GW isn’t exactly known for its tight competitive rules sets.
Aside from Blood Bowl, at lest. I figure one time is a fluke.
New starter, but khorne vs stormcasts again?
It seems like a re-pack of the existing starter, to make it cheaper.
From what I have gleaned from other places it is a repack of the current set except 1) coloured plastic 2) No generals (ie Castillant on dracolich … and Angry Khorne bloke with doggie) 3) Has vinyl play mat and box is coloured cardboard so it can be a ruin/hill.
Interesting to note is that it is label “A” Warhammer Age of Sigmar Starter set… does this mean others may be in the offing??
That seems like a very nice direct pushback on the new PP sets. it’s nice to see them react to competition instead of just ignoring it. I love to use GW as a punching bag as much as anyone else who has been with them for decades, but this is a company that is growing and changing and I have to say I like it.
…. and as a side note , after years of not attending them, GW doesn’t do this Con thing by halves does it? What a $#!t load of announcements
