The Raging Heroes Tough Girls Kickstarter Funded In A Blur
June 6, 2013 by brennon
The long awaited Raging Heroes Kickstarter for The Toughest Girls of the Galaxy was funded in thirty seconds (yes, thirty seconds) and it's storming on to well over $250,000 in not very much time at all...
The Kickstarter aims to not only bring you these amazing looking sculpts of warrior women from the future but also full armies that will lay the groundwork for a new wargame filled with awesome back story.
As you can see from the concept art and 3D sculpts above, as well as all the stories we've covered over the months, this fundraiser has been long in the making and when it finally hit the support has been overwhelming.
I don't think they will have a problem with reaching their stretch goals. You can check out the Kickstarter page for some more amazing images from this campaign that provide you with an idea as to what the troops are going to look like.
Right now though I think most people are hooked by these epic heroes above.
Can't wait to see where this one goes.

These are all very interesting looking sculpts. Particulary I’m liking Bernadetta.
Its a fantastic initiative that proves how much demand there is for female soldiers, contrary to what people usually quote and they quote GW…
Now if only we could persuade them to have non pile of sculls and bones alternatives for the iron empire.
Agreed, get rid of the skullz
Foot propped up high on girder. That’s more like it!
You can just cut it off and replace it with broken concrete pillar or some cargo blocks and leave the skull pile as a terrain piece or a objective marker. Personaly i just love that pose and the skulls don’t look bad at all.
Nep is my new Morty for my Cryx :D.
That Nepharaya model is absolutely superb. I’d buy that.
Great models thus far, would love to have a few of these in my Black Crusade role play.
Worst run kickstarter I have (had) ever been a part of. This is how they ran it up to the time I left. Advertise for months on Facebook. Check Start Kickstarter. Check Watch money jump from 0 to 250k. Check DON’T Communicate with pledging community. Double Check. This was a joke. I understand it is 3 people right now, but they had plenty of time to plan this out with as much as they had been boasting about it on face book and their website. They should have been a ton better prepared for the masses to show. The start… Read more »
It’s a shame that you and others are having such a hard time with contact with the creators of this KS. The 3D renders look lovely and I like the design of most of the models. In this case it might have been better for people to let this drag out before backing more so RH keep the stretch goals low instead of 30K per goal. Time will tell but from the looks of things, we backers wont be going anywhere.
Ehm… did any one read third update ? Also i’d contacted with them via facebook and there was no problem. This kickstarter is so far being run perfectly , why ? Because one the put tons of stretch goals and show what the whole line it will be like ( even if you can’t see the mechs you know there will be mechs! ) and also explained very well how they will distribute stretch goal, which one is the sweet spot as they call it that will get the freebies and so on. Also is perfectly understandable by anyone that… Read more »
Their only mistake that was is not getting first a sense of how much the will get on their first run by doing some kind of online or email poll like Miniwargaming did with the already funded and close Indiegogo campaign, but that is not something that is being done by almost any other company, AFAK.
Maybe they need to add a lot more freebies for the money they already have, that’s true… probably if is highly demanded they will do something about it.
Worst run kickstarter… LOLOLOLOL! not even close… but really, until near the end isn’t it a tad early to throw the toys out of the cot? I have funded multiple kickstarters and I have not seen anything to make me worry about how this will turn out – yet. Yep they were slow to respond > 3 person team (as you stated), 31 days to go, let them get sorted. Yep the stretch goals leaped in spacing > already they have acknowledged this and thrown a free mini in between them (so far), so this can change based on pledge… Read more »
Some reality check please. Prepare all you want a kickstarter is not what one think it is and does not behave as one thinks, I am sure they prepared for a push from their regulars estimated a bit more and got flooded from people who never contacted them, never expressed interest but had planned to join, from day 0 its another monster and all plans are to be tossed out of the window. Blame them for lack of communication, blame them for been shell-shocked and for pausing to understand what they really have in-front of them, I wouldn’t, its their first… Read more »
[Insert generic rant about people who expect free stuff from Kickstarters]
I’m getting nervous of kickstarter. Gaming is an easy one: tangible reward for supporting a project – crowd funding. OK, much better than raising cash through a bank.
However – if it was going to work, surely it would have already? Was it the publicity of the item that was lacking?
“if it was going to work, surely it would have already?” Isn’t that a bit like saying ‘If it was possible to travel faster than light, surely we should be able to do it already?’ Would it make a difference in how fast we find a cure for cancer if we all funded cancer research now or if we waited for self funded research groups to find the cure then gave them money towards their research? (OK the cancer thing is a whole different ball game but the point is the same – if you want it now you have… Read more »
Two days in and we’re already looking at the worst run kickstarter ever.
That’s hilarious.
Over the past 15 years, I painted thousands of miniatures and scale models from dozens of different companies including Raging Heroes. I’m confident in saying that this company produces some of the highest quality 28mm models I had the pleasure of painting. Judging by the massive success of their first kickstarter campaign, players and hobbyists have given them their full support to create a whole range of likeable female characters. Contrarily to what some comments are suggesting, the campaign itself is going quite smoothly. The creator shared 4 insightful updates, unlocked more than a dozen of units and offered some… Read more »
I have not had a problem with this kickstarter at all. So far, in fact, it has been above the high expectations I have set for it.
Claiming it to be the worst run kickstarter after giving them two days is, as one commentator above noted, ‘hilarious’.
The information they have provided has been excellent, and praise must go to the first-rate seven minute intro video they did explaining their concept and approach. I’m very much looking forward to this and, to my absolute horror, this might just get me back into 40k.
It’s OK we have a support network for the horrors you experienced with GW.
I think I might just survive. Either that or I look into Tomorrow’s War or Crossfire for rules.
I love the look of the miniatures and would love to support them, but I can’t justify spending 23 dollars in shipping when I just want one or two figures. Sure when you get up to the Lieutenant pledge level 23 dollars is cheap for shipping, but 23 dollars to ship just a couple of ounces of white metal that seems a little ridiculous. I’ve had a 10 pound package shipped to me from Japan and it only cost 18 dollars to compare.
You have a point. Unfortunately kickstarters are pushing volume sales and for the miniatures based ones they are pushing value in proportion to quantity. Plus side is the figures you do want will be on the market a hell of a lot quicker ALL BECAUSE OF the kickstarter. 😀
You can just think of it as sneak previews of what you will most likely be able to buy via retail come 2014! Much better than having to wait 2 or three years for them to have slowly made their way on to the market.
