Play Like Wheaton on a Geek Chic Table
May 31, 2013 by dracs
Today a friend pointed me in the direction of a site which I just had to share with you guys. Have you ever dreamed about getting yourself a table just for gaming? Well Geek Chic have you covered with their range of furniture all designed with the gamer in mind!
Geek Chic have some rather stylish looking gaming tables available, providing you with a dedicated play area with all sorts of hidden draws, book rests and other mcguffins to help keep all your gaming gear together. There are even specific shelves to hold your dice on!
Sizes range from smaller coffee table or desk type affairs, suitable for smaller games and just sitting down to a painting session,
to larger scale affairs big enough to fit your entire adventuring party around.
The Geek Chic range of gaming furniture is apparently quite well known in the gaming community, especially as it is one of their tables which Wheaton and Co. gather around every episode of Tabletop.
I was rather impressed by the range of items Geek Chic have on offer, all geared towards geeks and gamers. As well as gaming tables we can find storage and display cupboards and even a fold down desk for the DM.
I think I can safely say that this is the sort of thing any gamer geek would want if they had a) unlimited resources, b) a place to put it and c) having a place to put it, not having a partner who doesn't want the room taken over by your obsession.
Any of you played on a Geek Chic table?
Thanks to Jo for bringing this to my attention
The Sultan has been on my fantasy game room shopping list for ages’ assuming I win the lottery and get to live in a much bigger house and play games all day! 🙂
Same here… Assuming I can get the table moved from the United States to France. I fear the transport fee would be pretty much the same price as the furniture itself.
I’m more of a modernist. Geek Chic tables are high quality. I’ve seen them in person and they’re well made. I just wish they didn’t look like they were made in the 1900s. Get me Dieter Rams’ gaming table, and then we’ll talk (actually, I want to live in a world where Rams has designed a gaming table. Somebody make that happen). @Romain Geek Chic does not have a monopoly on this stuff. I’m sure there are some talented custom furniture makers in France who could hook you up. Getting a custom table made locally isn’t any more expensive than… Read more »
Wow… “the 1900s” weren’t actually that long ago. I meant the 1800s, but I guess time marches on faster for some of us than others. 😛
I like the XIXth century look ! 🙂
Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into it if I ever get that much cash to spare in one go.
Since you’re good at welding and machining, why don’t you build something with a wrought Iron structure ? Heavy, but neat.
I know, I know, not that kind of welding… 😉
Actually yes, that kind of welding. The design program I was in was very craft-oriented. I’ve arc-welded, mig welded, torch welded and done metal casting. I did a lot of woodworking as well, a fair amount of my home is furnished with stuff I’ve made. But honestly, my woodworking skills are just not up to snuff. I wouldn’t buy anything I’ve made in wood (except for all the things I basically bought in the form of materials and time while working on my degree). I went into the program to study interaction design and human factors (to shore up my… Read more »
I saw these at PAX. They are sublime.
Top quality gamer gear is a must. If only I had the space and money 🙁
Damn, think I’m going to have to get their dice tower…
I tried the budget route and started to flock the wife’s dining table…should be out of hospital in two weeks all going well
There are plenty of plans out there for making them these days (they’ve been around a while). I have a relative into woodworking that’s willing to build one up for me once I get the scratch together. I’m going all out with power outlets and USB ports in hidden corner panels as well as the flip down player desks and such. Hey, might as well go all out, right?
Here’s a video link to a sort of no frills one with 2 and 3d plan links 🙂

Hmm, well, it didn’t include my link…
Search “Gaming Table – Complete” on youtube. *shrug* :/
It’s a great table for night gatherings with my friends playing DnD, but sadly, I have to clear things out with my business. You know I’ve always had a dream of making my own website and sell there my own products. And when I’ve read this blog https://elogic.co/blog/magento-developer-hourly-rate/ , I thought that right now is the best chance for me to make the first step.
