Adam Finds an Actual Use For Liquid Green Stuff!
May 10, 2013 by dracs
Over at his Tabletop Minions Channel Adam has made an incredible discover; an actual use for Liquid Green Stuff!
"But what is this revolutionary new use?" I hear you cry. "It can't be for filling in gaps." And you are right. Adam, with the help of a GW Cairn Wraith, has found its true purpose: to give smooth plastic a dirtier texture.
Just watch the vid to see how it's done and maybe you will finally be able to make use of that Liquid Green Stuff you've had knocking around.
What other uses for Liquid Green Stuff have you found?
You can find Adam's original unboxing of the Cairn Wraith for Beasts of War Vampire Week here!
Great article with great humour as usual from Atom
This should be great for Nurgle
Adam cracks me up with his dry delivery, sprinkled with humour.
Well… what do you know ! 🙂
That was good. I like the idea of using it to look like painted over rust.
Strangely enough I bought a pot when it came out and gave up on it almost straight away.
I continued doggedly in the hope that I could get it to work
TBH I never had much better luck with the Vallejo liquid filler
CA glue mixed with talc is still a better option imho.
I mix in some fine graphite powder so you can see it more easily.
I use Milliput. It’s water soluble, so just dilute it in enough water so that you get a workable “juice”, and just paint with it in whatever crack you need filled ! It really works, and you can always file off the excess with sandpaper or a file, once it’s hardened. Also, Milliput and other water soluple putties have been out for ages, and are readily available, unlike those new things. That being said, I use Vallejo Plastic Putty (which I quite like, actually, especially since it’s also water-based) for texturing, for filling the gaps in cork in a non-smooth… Read more »
Oo good tip for the cork filling Romain, must try that.
Don’t know why but I’m not keen on the feel of milliput.
Nothing wrong with the job it does, it just feels icky.
Hmmm maybe I need a session or too with the shrink to sort this out! lol
Might have to rethink it on figures. Gaps are often in places inaccessible for sanding.
Water based fillers have an advantage in that situation.
+1
This is a great tip. I was about to try LGS for some very fine lines but I’ve already got Milliput so I’ll try that first.
True liquid green filth (great find !) does not fill any gaps properly. Regular stuff or even pva glue is doing far better.
Very good idea of use, but i wonder if it will survive on the battlefield ? I found that liquid stuff is not only useless (or almost), but also pretty fragile when it dries….
Will try it anyway, thanks 🙂
I use Vallejo plastic putty. I use it to fill gaps like base slots (yes that big!) and it never shrinks. I also used it for texture on a fur pelt that I removed a rider on a beast. It’s not exactly like the model fur, but it did well enough that I was happy.
I never got the GW liquid green stuff so can’t really say much about it.
