Zenit Miniatures’ Kensei Creature Campaign Grows
April 11, 2013 by brennon
Zenit Miniatures are having huge success with their Kensei Creature Fundraiser on IndieGoGo and below are some of the fantastic looking sculpts and some more art of upcoming monsters...
First up are the Kappa and Tengu that have been sculpted fairly astoundingly. I love the scale of the Kappa and it's evil grin as it lumbers towards you. The Tengu too is a neat model but I have an irrational hatred of them due to Dungeons & Dragons, so you'll excuse me for not wanting that one!
The future of course holds plenty more miniatures as you can see from Creature Packs C and D above. I'm interested to see what the Raiju and Ryako look like in model form.
The Ryako especially could finally be the miniature I've been looking for to represent a World of Darkness: Hengeyokai character.
Are you liking the direction their going in here?

So detailed, so delicate !
This is very good indeed… I’m eager to see what the Byako looks like, if only to compare it to Alkemy miniatures !
been watching on Facebook and was looking forward to Tengu after seeing the artwork.
Impressed lots Really would like! Love Kappa also.
Excellent work from Kensai.
BTW Did I mention that Tengu is superb at all?
These look fairly promising. 🙂 btw what is a Kappa? I’ve never been very knowledgeable of Japanese Mythology, lol 😛
AFAIK A Kappa is a type of water spirit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kappa_(folklore)
Its a river spirit that looks like a humanoid frog, turtle with a bad hair cut. It’s said that the Kappa has a bowl type dent on the top of its head to hold water. To defeat the Kappa was to trick it into spilling to water out of its head, such as bowing.
I considered ordering a starter there, but now I could order fantasy pack instead.
