Miniatures to make your eyes POP!
February 16, 2011 by beerogre
It's been a while since we last featured Soda Pop Miniatures on our On the Table show. So let's take a look at what they've been up to since our last look.
Well it looks like they've been busy creating more of their fabulous anime flavoured miniatures for their Relic Knights range!
These really are lovely. However, I'm not the worlds greatest painter. I used to be much better, but years of girls, beer and the eventual descent into family life, have eroded the skill I had in my youth, to the level where I just dip everything... DAMN YOU ARMY PAINTER!!!
However, looking at these, I might just dig out the studio inks and have a go at doing a proper job on one of these models... but which one?
They're all so good! I've only shown you a small selection of the models available, but I'd love to get a painting video filmed for one of these models... now that would be awesome!
But that's not all that Soda Pop do... there's also the enchanting Super Dungeon Explore.
However, I don't want to spoil you all with too much sweet... sweet eye-candy, so I'll say no more on SDE.
All I'll say is stay tuned!
There will be a lot more to say about this cutsie, anime-style dungeon buster... but for now my lips are sealed...

I love their brand… Especially the SDE range and their little kobolds. I’m using them for D&D Pathfinder games ! Great sculpts, imaginative range. Not a lot of stuff yet, but worth following !
These are great miniatures with a lovely style. Don’t fit anything I play but would make lovely painting projects.. if I ever get time to paint again!!
the sebasfian cross would be an awesome proxi for a witch hunter army, but all the models here are really nice
It’s a Jacques Alexandre Gillois sculpt… An amazing artist !
i want those little pieces to add to a squig horde.
Andy, How’s that slow descent into family life treating you these days? I pray to the dice gods you didnt forget about Valentin’s Day.
No, I didn’t forget the missus on Valentines day… but she did cast me a number of hard stares, as I had to check out that German problem shortly after I made her a Valentines dinner.
🙁
The things I do for Beasts of War… 😉

ohhhh it’s from JAG, he is an amazing sculptor. I have the book he wrote with other big names in the figurine field “Le Grand LIvre de la Peinture sur Figurine”. It is the absolute bible for paintor/sculptors of figurine, absolutely amazing. Do not hesitate if you know French, it’s the absolute best book ever!
That is very true ! There has been two follow-up books, “Le Grand Livre des Armées” (for armies) and “Le Grand Livre des Décors” (for terrain), all of those books are excellent investments. They certainly were the key to perfecting my technique…
Thanks for the tip….I’ll def. look into “Le Grand Livre”
Something’s certainly… ‘popping’, especially in the picture of the ‘Kisa’ figure.
Yeesh. Somehow I’m more terrified with the thought of being clocked in the face with her bosom during a fight moreso than her staff!
My wife tells me its all an illusion… apparently you can get “magical bras” that do that sort of thing… or so she’s told. 😉

Ah, the dictature of cleavage in miniatures… There are ugly and obese guys minis (usually monsters, but they’re here), but where are the small breasted women ?
I really do love these minis, but as a female gamer, large breasted women don’t turn me on … Hehe.
Really, guys, can you make a female model not “slutty” ?
As a gay man, I couldn’t agree with you more… There’s about one mini of an attractive guy in skimpy outfit for ten big breasted bimbos, and while there’s plenty of monstrous, plain or unattractive male minis, there’s little or no unattractive women… Let alone ones that aren’t slutty. It’s still a straight male oriented community, slowly changing.
I actually just picked up the Squall figure a couple days ago, it is tiny. I grabbed it as a trial piece before I got one of the Relic Knights on the robot armour like the Calico Kate but now I am not so sure about grabbing it as I don’t have any idea ho big it is.
The bases for the pets and humanoïd figures are 30mm, and the bases for the relics are 50mm… That gives you the idea of the scale on the pictures ! They are indeed “true” 32mm scale, and finely detailed.
Super Dungeon Explore!! What a great name for a game 🙂
Looks super cool too.
