Renaissance Build an Asian Village Upon Kickstarter Foundations
April 5, 2013 by dracs
Renaissance Miniatures, creators of a great range of pre-painted modular buildings, have set up a kickstarter to build a village of the far east.
With the help of the kickstarter, Renaissance look set to bring out a wide array of detailed terrain pieces, perfect to bring your gaming tables of the Orient to life.
There isn't much more to say other than these look great, a fact reflected by the success of the kickstarter.
A number of Asian themed games are around at the moment, such as Kensei and Bushido, so these will provide you with the best way to quickly make a great looking Asian style gaming table. With the rich variety of bridges and buildings it looks especially suited to skirmish games.
If you want to bring Asia to your tabletop goo and support the kickstarter now.
Looks gorgeous
There is certainly a market for affordable Oriental scenery. I’m slightly surprised it has taken this long for one of laser cut building manufacturers to produce some.
I’m trying not to sound too fanboy-like here but… OH MY GOD!!! THESE LOOK AWESOME, I’M SO IN LOVE THEM RIGHT NOW! 😀
Thank you so much for posting this.
So a pledge, what do they mean by that? They’re looking for investors or something?
Sort of just head to the kickstarter to see details, links are in the post
What I like best about this terrain is that it has an obviously simple paint job on it (in some places, no paint at all) and it still looks pretty darn convincing. You can tell some of these components were just spray painted all at once, probably laid out on a newspaper at the time, and they still look really good. That speaks a lot to understanding the material and knowing how to use it properly, something that a lot of other laser-cut terrain manufacturers should take notice of.
Can anyone say Yu Jing terrain?
Well it deserves bigging up, so yeah:
Huging terran. ::P
Actually it appears I can say it, but can’t type it 🙁
Is it just me, do the edges looks bumpy? I wonder why? Over all I’m rather blown away at the level of coolness of this KS.
Traditional Japanese architecture does sometime curve up gracefully to the corners.
But there is nothing that looks like the models’ rooves

The edge would appear to be distorted by the tension of fitting into the beams, which could mean that the alignment is out
Hi! I’m Steve – of the husband & wife team who are Renaissance Miniatures – I’m responsible for the CAD design work and maintaining the laser cutters that made the models in the photos above. The small ripples you see (and they are less than a millimeter) are due to resonance in the mechanism of the “lasersaur” laser cutter when it’s cutting at a specific angle that causes the X axis stepper motor to resonate with the Y axis motor to generate frequencies that match the resonant frequency of the laser mount. This causes little ripples in the material. A… Read more »
