Dungeon Delve With A Kickstarted Dwarven Forge Tile Set
March 27, 2013 by brennon
Dwarven Forge have launched a Kickstarter Campaign for their Gaming Tiles and it has rocketed past it's total and is on to bigger and better things. Check out the sets below...
Above you can see one of the sets of Gaming Tiles with floor, walls, and of course doors to get in and out of. Now check out what you can make with them...
Some of this kit is astounding and while it might look simple it can easily be bought to life with any number of different accessories too. The Kickstarter also offers you a chance to get the kits painted to a professional level allowing for even less work when getting it onto the tabletop.
They have already passed their goal so pledging now just nets you loads more rewards!
What do you think of these simple but effective kits?
Looks very cool but the international shipping just means it’s not feasible.
As said above: $50+ to ship outside the US kills it right there for me. Lovely stuff though!
One set doesn’t you get you very far into the dungeon. Two rooms isn’t much of an adventure for $65–$95. Think I’ll stick with cardstock dungeon tiles (or RPGs that don’t need tile maps to begin with). RPGs are supposed to be about using your imagination anyway.
If they had a Sci-fi theme and a little more variation I would probably be in on it. $120 for 72 varied pieces(with current stretch goals) is not to bad.
Excuse me, 81 pieces at $120 with current stretch goals.
It is an awesome looking project, but a little pricey for what it is tbh. as Mpopke says, each set is only 2 rooms so I think for anyone to have a decent amount of fun with it, they will need 4-5 sets minimum imho, or 323287623 sets if you like a real mans adventure 😀 hehe
They look great and I agree with @barretem30 a sci fi set would have a lot of mileage as well. Sorry Dwarven forge but hopefully someone here will think the same and produce something similar.
Dwarven Forge has some scifi sets on their main product page. They’re the normal-priced Dwarven Forge stuff though so more expensive than this new material they’re using in the kickstarter. The sets cost less apiece but contain fewer tiles.
I kind of like the idea of DF, but at the same time I could spend that same amount from my hobby budget on an awful lot of tiles, minis or rulebooks (or even a complete game in the case of Dreadball).
