Check Out The Fantasy Game Myth By The Creators Of MERCS!

The folks behind MERCS have a fantastic new game on the horizon and it has just been given the green light by Kickstarter to start fundraising on Monday (25th of March). Check out some of the artwork below and even a miniature for Myth...
Well it already looks like it's going to be a lot of fun from the artwork. The art also looks to be translating over well into the miniatures with the Soldier being previewed above. Right now the style reminds me a little of Pathfinder mixed with the video game Fable.
The artwork also shows off some of the other classes we might be seeing, namely a Ranger of some sorts in the foreground. As well as that there is the wizard like fellow and what appears to be a ratty rogue!
As well as artwork we have also got a look at some of the bits and pieces players will be using to play with in the game. Right off the bat you can see there is going to be some complexity to the way this game plays but that's always good when your looking at the life line of a game.
I do like that you appear to be able to attach whatever weapons and armour you like to your hero via those inventory slots. Feels almost like an MMORPG or RPG!
We'll obviously have loads more on Myth as the Kickstarter hits after PAX this weekend, so watch this space!

This looks pretty neat. Like the ‘Don Bluth’ style art and the mini looks alot of fun.

lol well I certainly seem to have MERCs on the brain inadvertently. I do genuinely like the look of this game so far though, and there is plenty more to come soon!

It begs the question though, how come there was only a Merc’s Week on BoW when clearly it should have been the whole month? lol
Look forward to see how this is going to develop. It could provide a good intro game and a bridge between board and RPG as well as being a jolly good romp through some dungeons.
This looks very cool. My big question: “Is it an RPG like Descent or a wargame like MERCS?” I’m hoping the former (or both…which could be amazing). I love leveling a character and seeing him grow and kill bigger stuff. The art styling is very appealing as well. This is definitely one KS I’ll be backing.
The more I look at the first piece of art, the more I’m thinking its an RPG or dungeon crawl. You notice the campfire – it looks like someone at the fire is telling a story and the foreground artwork is the story itself. This would coincide well with the name “Myth”. The heroes you see are the Ranger-type class and the warrior. If you look closely you can see a red dude shooting fireballs and a flying rat-man with two daggers. I have to say I am really looking forward to this. The MERCS miniatures are of great quality and I have always preferred fantasy to sci-fi in games so I look forward to this appearing.

Looks like I know what to spend my Thon money on now. Love the look of this game. MERC minis are already fun to paint so I see good things coming from these guys. Soldier kind of reminds me of the TF2 scout.

I hope its not a dungeon crawler board game.
I hope its a table top miniatures game with rpg elements, like Mordheim or Necromunda…where you have scenarios, level up, equip, etc.
I’m so sick of games like super dungeon, descent, etc. We need a great fantasy based rpg minis game to fill the hole of something like a Mordheim-esque game and have it be supported by a strong company. I hope the rules are and mechanics are awesome.
I’d be happy with either. I love a heavily supported dungeon crawl but a wargames variant is just as fun. Ideally, a game that supported both systems, if possible. PvE and PvP!! Crazy…
I’m hoping to get started with MERCS soon as it looks great, so I’ll certainly give this Kickstarter a look if it involves the same creators.
“A fully cooperative fantasy game” is what it says on the box art. I’m thinking dungeon crawler, myself, but maybe they will surprise us come the 25th.
“Fully cooperative” makes me think of WarhammerQuest where the monsters had fixed movement plans and you didn’t need a DM or Overlord (though you could add one with campaign play).
when I heard Myth, I thought is was a board game rendition of the old PC game…but then it appears ot be a differewnt Myth….oh well…sure miss those exploding wights!
Like the cartoony look of the art that carried over into the model.
After the in depth look at Mercs I am truly excited about this game and what it has to offer!
Damn KS addiction! Will be checking this one out for sure.
