Hasslefree Miniatures Finish Their Female Gauls
March 6, 2013 by brennon
You may remember we took a look at some of the upcoming models from Hasslefree not far back. Well, below are the two finished Gaul heroines that you might just recognise...
We had previously seen Femme-Asterix in an almost finished form, but Femme-Obelix was certainly a couple of steps from completion. However, now you can see both of the miniatures above with plenty of character and a neat nod to a fantastic cartoon.
As well as this we have this 'New Adventurer' as he has been tagged by Hasslefree. I think this fellow might just be a little inspired by Borderlands 2. What do you think?
Once again though we have a raft of fantastic looking miniatures that would be perfect across the board in many a game.
Will you be picking up the rather better looking versions of Asterix and Obelix?
meh.
seriously ?
I don’t know, I try really hard to slide in strategically place jokes to make folk laugh and brighten their day, and you made mine with just one word!!! Pffft I give up. 😛 hehe
I actually said “seriously” in a Bane voice.
(see the youtube clip “BANE OUTTAKES (Auralnauts extended edition)”)
All I can say is.. damn, and I just placed an order with HF too. That second mini is perfect for my WFRP character.
don’t think there is a single thing from HF i have liked and these continue the trend
What is it about them you never liked? The detail? Scale? Subject matter?
Even by Infinity standards, the HF range tend towards “dainty”. After years of painting chunky GW minis I have a nightmare of a time trying to paint things from Hasslefree 😀
I think the real question is “what is it that you like?” about them. It’s pretty obvious why people would consider them rather shoddy miniatures.
I *have* seen some good HF miniatures, but they are rare.
Well, I’ll pop my dunce’s hat on then because I have to confess, I don’t see much that’s shoddy about them unless we are grading miniatures with a binary state of awesome or awful. As Manpug said, not the best but not the worst. I like the concept of the first two characters and the simplicity of the models, particularly on the outfit, reflects their origins. The anatomy is typically good (IMHO) and individually they have merit as character models though the subject matter is a bit too specific to appeal to me as a collector. I certainly don’t have… Read more »
Some men like + size women. Not the best but not the worst models. I think they need to take better pictures as the glare and shadows make things look funny.
I would have liked to seen the women wearing a little more armor. The big-girl looks trashy.
I am not a fan of the way women are portrayed in fantasy tropes and was hoping for a pair of strong component looking heroines.
Normally I would agree, but I think in this case there is a case for saying the clothing is adequate.
Asterix wears a vest and Obelix is bear chested.
There should be more women of varying sizes in models imho. Cat walk caricatures gets boring.
What do I see good in HF models?
Kevin’s sculpts are well proportioned, have a good sense of mass and have clean lines.
There is a strong sense of drawing and understanding of form imho. While they may not be the most spectacular figures, he has a good solid style.
Bad day again. Obelix does have a bear sized chest but his upper torso is devoid of clothing and he therefore has a BARE chest
Goddamit Chibi, get it right
All three very nice minis and definitely on my next shopping list with HF.
I hope that Mr. White will have an Idefix/Dogmatix ready by the time I order. (I can do the menhir myself!)
Instant semi.
