The Undead Pawns Shamble Into The World Of LOKA
February 22, 2013 by brennon
Another miniature from LOKA: The World of Fantasy Chess was previewed by Mantic Games. Check out this undead pawn from the icy underworld...
I'm quite liking these sculpts for the game, especially the pawns. This one looks like a fallen barbarian turned undead guardian. It's going to be interesting seeing how the mechanics work too.
Has LOKA grabbed you as a game for the collection?
Let me know below.

The sculpts look pretty rough to me, but maybe its just the pictures.
Indeed they do matey. AS someone suggested on the other thread. You might as well buy some fantasy models for this chess game. That way you can tailor it to your normal army. Most gamer games are around the £40-£60 mark, so I would be hoping that this was more like the £20-£25 family game price, depending on how many minis ofc. If it is normal amount of chess pieces I would have to insist it was cheap. Might have to get my bitz boxes ready for this one. and some foam to replicate the board 😀
I like it. The sculpts do look more stylised than most miniatures, but in my mind there’s a difference between a wargame miniature and a gaming piece. One is a scale replica designed to look more or less real, and the other is there to represent something on a more abstract level.
I could not agree more noggin. 🙂 I was suggesting that the price should also be proportional iaw those ideals, else it could be better to produce your own, as you will have to go through the same process with both ideas. 🙂
See I really like these miniatures because they look at the top end of most board game components. This is of course not a wargame so comparing, them as someone pointed out, might be a little harsh.
As board game components they look top notch in my honest opinion and I’d love to paint them up. Still looking forwards to seeing the rules.

This is actually really peaking my interest! a Wargame Chess game would be a great little way to introduce people to miniature war-gaming. plus the sculpts are looking super cool! I wonder if the game uses dice… 🙂
Love to get a big box of this and get it sent off to get professionally painted.
