Kickstarter Returns Mutant Chronicles to the Table in Warzone Resurrection
February 21, 2013 by dracs
Mutant Chronicles started out about 20 years ago as a grim and gritty sci-fi rpg and has since spawned a number of different games and even a really bad movie. One of those games is Warzone Resurrection, which is growing with the help of kickstarter.
Warzone Resurrection is a tabletop skirmish game taking place in the world of Mutant Chronicles. You are given the chance to take control of one of a number of factions, whether it be one of the human MegaCorporations, the last hope for humanity which is the Brotherhood, or the Dark Legion, the menace which seeks to destroy all.
The kickstarter was originally set up to help fund the creation of the MegaCorporation Bauhaus faction.
However, the kickstarter has since managed to blast past its funding aim and they are now working their way to making the four starter sets in plastic.
The mini concepts and art are pretty awesome and these miniatures are looking great too, so it is certainly going to be cool to see what else emerges from this kickstarter.
Did any of you used to play Mutant Chronicles?
Heck yes! So far I’m liking what they are doing with the Bauhaus faction – they retain a lot of the style I remember from the CCG and RPG but rendered in a way that doesn’t make the GW minis look slim! Plus I love the detail on Angelika Drachen.. hopefully some of the other established characters such as Steiner and Duval will look similarly awesome. I’m still not sure what to make of the remodeled Cybertronic troops though.. they were always “sleek and efficient” looking with Vince Diamond (as I recall) being the only towering slab of muscle in… Read more »
The cybertronic basic trooper was all showing off upper body muscle on the battlefield … They just werent as well proportioned/sculpted back in the day.. Gotta say i like all the stuff so far!
Had to back this Kickstarter. Warzone was the first tabletop game I really got into. Digging the new art style Prodos has presented so far and rabidly waiting to see more concepts/sculpts. Fingeres crossed they don’t let the IP fall back into the void.
imagine the bio titans and other enormous dark legion beasts re-sculpted and done justice finally 🙂
Used to love Mutant chronicles miniatures its a shame the range suffered from some rubbish sculpts for the Church troops, lster releases erred pretty poor as the best sculptors had moved on.
These look excellent I suppose it’s one of the advantages of CAD and 3D printing you have a uniform style throughout the range.
I am really not feeling this one, sorry guys. 🙁 I never heard of it before it came on here, so I guess there is no nostalgia for me to get bitten by. To me, the models look Meh at best. If it was such a good game and it brings back good memories for you, I hope it does well. I see it has made it’s mark, so I wish it all the best. If it does well this time around and things improve maybe I’ll play it in the future. Unless all the other 43865437 different games make… Read more »
let me put it this way .. rules wise 40k got underserved attention compared to the old Warzone rules. Only downside to warzone was the miniature quality, and that has been redeemed now. The miniatures are WIP and are changed alot depending on fan feedback, so i think this game is in good hands now.
Well I never say never, doh! 😛 WWX has to much pull on me atm though. But, I am not going to ninja another thread to talk everyones ears off about how good I find it, hehe
I want the Bauhaus starter set, but all the figures are doing is standing up right with no weapons, please please tell me what you see is not what you get !
There is no way the bahuas hussars will have that pose, the whole faction is conceptual it seems … the brotherhood and cybertronic troops allow multiple poses so i think well get the same for Bahaus 🙂
The Kickstarter’s purpose was to fund Bauhaus. When they hit the £35k mark they commissioned concepts and began to work with the community to get them just right (lots of different combinations were gone through, votes were cast, etc.). What you’re seeing is the concept art. It is plain because it is going to be the reference the 3D artists use to develop the model in the next stage. They have posted renders of the character and the Vulcan battlesuit (both are almost 100% finished, which is some really impressive turnaround). Can’t wait for them to have the Hussar renders… Read more »
Remember ebay still selling 100 of the original figures for £9.99 (50 of each faction) 🙂
the minis started to look very good there at the end … got a link to that ebay entry? can find it
Looks great and the kickstarter is really going well. As you can see from my name I am an old Imperial warzone player.
