We've been sent a list of rumours about what a future update to the 40K Ork Codex might contain... but is it reliable or just a wish list?

Da four rulz of ork gunz
1 Gunz is always shooty
2 point da ‘urty end at da ‘umies
3 keep yer finger on the bang switch in case yer wanna shoot someone
4 If der’s somfink in front or behind da fing you wanna shoot, shoot dat too.
I’ve always thought ork shooting was nerf’d simply by the low ballistic skill. That’s why we have big shootas and the like so the number of shots overcome the small chance of hitting. So yes lootas can fire lots but they don’t always hit and sometimes fire very little so they really don’t need nerf’ing. What they need is to get the old fleet rule back so a waagh meant move, run, assault and not move, run and stand still. We don’t need more and more new rules otherwise this will end up like fantasy. Keep the system simple and… Read more »
…weren’t all the Ork rumor’s rubbished recently on most sites?
Lots of rumours there. I guess that it wou8ld be a new codex with so much rumours. Dont know about holding my breath thiough. GW play their cards close to their chest. The latest Chaos codex release was a bit of a suprise to me.
The new units sound pretty fun and if they did release a codex usually they release characters, a squad of some sort(belchers), and some type of large model like the squig idea. But truthfully the Waaagh is where it’s at. They no doubt will make it mean something. Nerf the shooting and they’ll probably give more incentive bringing more combat boys too, or some new close combat unit like the random teli orks. A half imbedded crashed ork rok decked out with guns sounds about right with fortifications. They’ll probably make it the size of a redemption since those things… Read more »
I heard they just started playtesting for the Orks so a Ork codex is still pretty far off But I did hear they will get some new models around April The release Schedule I heard was January-Dark Angel Codex. February -White Dwarf Daemons Update. March-Another Hobbit Release maybe. April-Ork Model wave. May-Something Fantasy(High Elves Maybe) June-Tua Codex. Then the Eldar(Finally)
I got these off of http://www.belloflostsouls.net and Faeit 212 blog if your interested they have some more rumors on the DA and Tau.
I don’t play orks, but I would definitely like to see more squig related stuff, like the squig hoppers from fantasy. I would like units of attack squigs, like ripper, nurgling and scarab swarms, it seems like the kind of thing that they would be used for. The squig launcher sounds cool, and I know that you can’t argue with ork logic but why would they put a squig in there if it’s supposed to explode? seems to me like just one more thing to go wrong but I guess that’s the point.
A lot of these rumours sound familiar to those that I posted a couple months back in the Ork Forum on this website. Re-posted it with some reactions. Circular reporting perhaps?
I think the reference to ork rocks are not rumors of stone effigiesbut, I think they are rumors of drop ships. Orks travel in space in roks, asteroids that they have turned into space going vessels. Roks are crudely maneuvered in the direction of a planet, and when they get there they don’t land on a planet’s surface, they crash down. Imagine orks exiting roks on the game table like space marines exit out of drop pods, or landing a support weapon platform during the middle of the game in your opponent’s deployment zone.
Roks are carved out asteroids fired at the planet using traktor beams – hollowed out and fitted as bases often including teleportas to land more troops. If the belchers come in I think I may well be done with GW, orks are comedic but that is purile. Some of the character ideas seem ok, but the major issue I have is it all sounds that orks could be so random they become uncompetative – as you are simply relying on luck. Weirdboys are currently random enough used one for a few games to very varying effects – 4 teleports in… Read more »
april’s fool already? did i miss Christmas?
I miss 1 of the best pieces of Ork gunnery ever… Get the “Hop-Splat-gun” back on the list!
It shoots a grenade with a ball attached to it by a piece of chain, and crosses the field rather random.
